Poop cleaning

What have people found to be the best way to remove the mass of poop from the diapers. I can't seem to come up with something efficient to do with the poopy ones immediately after changing. THe stuff doesn't just roll off, we've thought about getting a kiddie sand shovel but that seems a little weird.

Sometimes, I'll let it sit for a little while. It'll help make it more solid.

You can also roll the diaper. Hard to explain, but folding the diaper so the poo is on the outside, and rolling it back and forth.

Dunk it and swish it a little. (Although I don't like doing this- too messy, and my DD has started trying to do it with clean diapers, blankets, etc.)

I do have a plastic knife that I keep in the bathroom drawer to scrape if neccessary.

You should get some disposable liners. You'd love them.

Depnds on how solid the poo is. Usually I take a piece of toilet paper to scrape the bigger pieces off. I also roll/squish the diaper with the poo inside, to gather it into a ball so it'll fall off easier. Man, that sounds really gross, doesn't it?

When visiting my in-laws, I used their bedee (sp?) on the diapers. It was awesome! I'm really considering the minishower because of this. At home, I just shake, and swish if I have to. If anything is clinging vehemently to the diaper, I let it go and throw it in the washer, as long as it's not out of hand.

I broke down and bought both a bidet (mini shower) and have also invested in the disposable liners.....because my daughter is a little older, we know she poops every two days, mostly in the evening. So when the second day (the poop day) arrives, we start lining her diapers....it doesn't get it all (especially if the poop is really creamy) but it gets the majority of the sticky stuff. You don't have to throw away liners (if it is just pee, of course) and can actually pop them in the wash with the rest of the diapers and re-use them....since I am the only one who deals with the poopy diapers, I can't tell you how much I love the perfectly formed, non-sticky poop....you know, the poop that virtually balls up and rolls out of the diaper (I don't get too many of those)

My girlfriend uses a spatula to scrape it in the toilet
I'm still breastfeeding so I have no further advice, but let us know if something works great for you!

Okay, it sounds gross and non-environmentally friendly, but I used plastic spoons (like from a fast-food place) to scoop and dump in the toilet, then tossed the spoon in the trash.

Thank You

Thanks for all the great ideas. We're trying a few different things, I'll post when we figure out what works best for us.
