Riding my bike on a gorgeous summer day does it for me. Of course it's winter, so that's no help right now!

And I belong on this thread, too!

Ah yes, I can relate...I'm a thrift store person too, but. It can get out of hand.

I have ideas of requiring that I Ebay or TP something for every new thing I bring in, but not much luck with that yet...sigh.

I did discover selling on Ebay is just as fun as shopping, maybe even more because you get money at the end of it!! Woooo!

It takes time! THIS soothes me (MDC) and oddly enough, cleaning. I like cleaning (shh, don't tell DH) and I LOVE the after-effects. I say, make a list beforehand and then pick in the moment. And BTW, I don't think NO calories is a requirement. Why not eat, as long as it is mindful (AKA truly enjoyable) eating? Watch TV, take a bath, talk on the phone, read, fix your hair, listen to music, I dunno!

Part of the problem is that I live walking distance to Church Street, Burlington. I go for long walks with Harvest every day and always end up on Church Street. I am starting to leave my debit card at home so there is no temptation. We have NO money for spending!

Heh. Well, I wouldn't think eating would be a problem if I wasn't overweight and trying to lose weight. Maybe once I reach my goal weight I can really enjoy myself with food, but the reason I'm overweight is because that IS the primary way I do that.

Man, I so wish I could take a nice relaxing bath. A big soaking bathtub was my one requirement when we were looking for ahouse, but no we have one of those piddly little ones that barely covers me halfway. Well, its better than our last house, where the tub was so oddly shaped there was no slope to lean against so it was uncomfortable to even sit in. Sigh.

OT but I would highly recommend, if you haven't read them, books by Geneen Roth. She teaches how to enjoy food (as she says, to "eat with gusto!") and your body RIGHT NOW, not to wait until "someday". . .she does this by teaching mindful eating. Mindful eating is a way of life, and if someone is overeating (causing weight gain), chances are that it is not mindful.

Ohhhh. OK, first let me say I'm totally jealous that you're within walking distance of Church St! DH used to work on Church St & you're right it's *very* dangerous. The food alone could do you in. I don't even know how much he used to spend a week when Liquid Energy was still open.

Leaving the card at home is a great idea too. I started doing this when I take DD to check out the train tables at the mall.
