Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to tell you there is light at the end of the tunnel. I was 10 days overdue when I had Lily and now she is a week and a half old. The last days, especially when your over due can be torture!!! It never helps when people are all over you about if and when your going into labor. Don't they realize that you'll call them when it's happened? UGH : Just wait soon the phone calls will be about when they can come see the baby

Your all doing awesome! I'm thinking about you all and sending you tons of laboring vibes.

How about when people ask me when the doctor's going to induce? Ya know what, maybe I won't LET the doctor induce! MAYBE I'll let the baby come in its own time...what a novel idea :

It is possible to have lots of fun with this question! I am getting it a lot lately, and I say very casually, "Oh, well, I'm comfortable going to 48 weeks before considering induction..."

Talk about jaws dropping! Seriously, have fun with it! Most people won't be able to wrap their mind around the concept of letting him come on his own, but its really fun to watch them try!

I usually just tell them that when I was born I was six weeks late. Their mouths drop and I walk away. The doctor almost fell over when I told him that. He said, "Oh, well we won't let you go that far over!" I didn't bother arguing with him then, but I thought, "That's what you think, Buddy."

I was explaining to my bf that ALL of my grandma's 13 children were 2-9 wks late. He raised his eyebrows at 9 wks. "She must have misfigured." Um, the kid was 16 lbs when he was born.... "Well, still, it seems strange...she must have figured something wrong." I pointed out the doc's thought that, too....except they finally admitted that NO one "figures" wrong 13 times!

And I really just don't get everything insisting to me that I must have "figured" wrong. There just isn't that big of a window to mis-figure. Even if we give the benefit of the doubt, we're still basically talking about 4 wks either way that you could be wrong. Maybe my family just bakes our kids longer. ACCEPT IT, people!

A woman asked me last night, "Are you sure you're overdue? You're in way too good of a mood! " I explained that I've expected from the start to go over, so none of this is really surprising to me.

I'm pretty sure the doctor's going to fall over on Tuesday when I tell him (as long as everything looking okay) that I won't consider inducing until 44 wks. I just don't see the rush, and as long as the baby is doing okay, I'm not so miserable that I'm going to rush his/her schedule. My body is not going to NEVER go into labor. I trust my body, even if no one else does

I'm just a few days over here. People kept expecting me to go into labor on my due date. They would ask if I was excited for the big day, like that was the only day that could work for the birth. My MWs are really encouraging me to drink more raspberry leaf tea, DTD with DH, and to walk b/c on my due date I was 50% effaced and the baby was at a 0 station. I'll do as much as I can, but really the baby isn't ready yet.

I sympathize (of course I do!). People keep asking me when the big day is, as if I know exactly when the kid is going to make his grand appearence. From my bf's 9 year old brother, I understand the expectation that my DD is the actual day I'll have the kid. From adults, with children of their own, it's a bit more bewildering.

Does the RL tea really help bring on labor? I know it's supposed to "tone the uterus," and I intended to drink it all 9 months, but I've shirked my "duties." If I thought it might bring on labor, though, I might have more of an incentive to drink the stuff

And one more thing--why would it have been "acceptable" for me to go into labor at 38 or 39 wks, but 41 or 42 wks is ghastly? Why is slightly early OK, but slightly late is not?

I'm officially past my due date today. At the doctor's yesterday he said there had been no change since last monday. He was practically ready to induce right then and there, but he said we could wait because I reported that she was still very active and he heard a good strong heartbeat. I admit I was lazy in picking a doctor and didn't do a lot of research, so now I just have to fend off his attempt at an induction. We're supposed to go back in on Monday, so if there is still no change he'll want to schedule an induction. I'm going to ask him to wait until at least thursday. That gives this little one a full week to get going. I know that may not be enough time, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Dh says not to worry because he's positive she's coming on Sunday. Let's hope his "daddy's intuition" is better than my "mommy's intuition" because I was pretty sure she was coming on the 22nd and she obviously is still not here. I just am tired of waiting. I want to hold my baby so bad. The truth is it took me several years to convince Dh to even start trying for a baby, so it feels like I've been waiting much longer than 9 months. Not knowing when she'll come is the hardest part.

I'm not all that thrilled to still be waiting to meet baby, but at least I finally made it to my due date (yesterday)! I thought it would never come - and now baby can't be all that far away
Doc will want to schedule induc in two weeks, we'll see how baby's doing then. So far, NST has been Wonderful - Dr said it was the most active he's ever seen! Which doesn't bode well for when the little fire-ball gets out!
Haven't had any internal exams or anything, so I could be hi and tight or ready to roll - there's no telling...

Add me to the official overdue list. My due date was yesterday, and I'm not having ANY signs whatsoever. I'm thankful my mws are very laidback and comfy with letting the baby come in her own time. They are off hands with vag exams, unless I want one, and don't talk about inducing, etc. So, I'm content just waiting, though I can't wait to get labor over with and make sure baby is healthy.

OKay, it sofficial now. 40w2d....not thinking she's hanging in there much longer but we'll see. I do love the looks when I tell people my due date and they realize its passed already. I'm sitting at 100% effaced and 3 cms. so when I get ready, hopefully it'll go quick. My intuition all along has been for Saturday the 27th, and night, and cold.....Well, its the first big freeze here and it'll be the 27th at midnight....I am so ready!
