Well, we are doing pretty well here. I'm really tired because Aaron loves to nurse every hour or so all night and then do his big 3 hr sleeps during the day while ds 1 is awake. And of course he wakes to nurse just when I'm trying to get ds1 down for his nap, so those aren't happening either. Dh tries to give me a bit of sleep when he can, but he didn't end up being able to take a full week or so off work, because the annual general meeting is coming up this Sunday and he had a lot of stuff to prepare, so he's just doing what he has to at work and spending as much time at home as possible.
What is totally keeping us afloat is the fact that a lady in the church set up a meal tree, so we have supper arriving at our door every night until next Tues. It means I can use my limited extra energy to keep up on laundry and dishes. My carpet has about an inch of cat hair and breakfast cereal drifting across it, unfortunately.
Aside from the night nursing, Aaron is really mellow. He only fusses if he's hungry and I can't get to him right away, or if his tummy is really sore, and that is really seldom. That is so good, because ds1 is as high needs as ever and requires a lot of attention. I'm so glad I had them in the order I did!
Ds1 is starting to get interested in Aaron -- he'll ask where he is when he's sleeping in the playpen, and this morning he drove a fire truck across his tummy (that's practically affeciton from a two year old boy) and smiled at him while he was awake. He just gets mad when I'm nursing Aaron and always insists that he needs to sit in my lap, too, which is complicated because Aaron is long, and doesn't really have the head strenth to nurse on his own yet, so my hands and lap end up tied up while trying to read to a two year old . . . but we work it out, and I give ds1 lots of cuddles while Aaron is sleeping.
Well, I don't think I can justify showing ds1 any more homestarunner cartoons at the moment, so I'd best go. There's a few pics of Aaron posted on my blog, if anyone's interested.
Hang in there, mamas, you're almost there.
