It's very useful. Anything you want to chop (use the pulse function), grate, or puree can be done in the food processor. I love to make hummus in it, and lately I've been making pie crust in it. Try this sometime when you make pie: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Flaky-F...st/Detail.aspx

I loved mine for making baby food! I also use it to make sauces and marinades.

I have a morning glory muffin recipe that has carrots and apples grated in it, and I love to use it for that. We also use it to make pizza dough (we have a big bowl)sometimes, and pie dough. Also I have a couple of frosting recipes I use it for...you'll find the more you cook and bake that you'll be happy you have it...even if you cook and bake a ton now, you may find that you'll think to yourself "that'd go a lot faster in the processor!"

Oh! Chopping chocolate. I hate doing that by hand and it's done in seconds in the food processor!

Baby food, when you're ready- it's GREAT! Also, you can grate/dice veggies for a pasta salad, or a pasta primavera, guacamole, black bean dip/spread. Wow- I think I'm gonna go use mine!!

Today I grated 6 2lb blocks of cheese I bought it for a great price on sale. I grated each block, put it in a gallon sized ziplock bag, added a tablespoon of flour and shook it (prevents sticking) and stuck them in the freezer. Voila, grated cheese whenever I need it.

What a faboulous idea!! How long does it last in the freezer? Does it taste funky?

in a chest freezer it'll last about a year, in the fridge freezer about 6 months....it tastes fine. IF you freeze the block then thaw it and try to grate it it crumbles, so grate before freezing instead. No need to thaw, just use it frozen.
