Just curious if anyone else has used this method to take care of decay, vs the drill and fill method?

We have a few times, and can't wait to see it become widely used in the US.

Do a google: HealOzone and you will get some great informational sites that pop right up. http://www.curozone.com/main.html This is awaiting FDA approval as we speak, and HealOzone might be marketed to US dentists THIS year!

There are a few dentists that bought the unit outside of the US that are in the US and use it...we traveled to thesmileexperts.com in Wisc to recieve it two times on our son.

HealOzone is a unit that applies ozone to the tooth that has a cavity, and kills off all of the bacteria that causes the decay. Then, there are a few options to remineralize the tooth structure to repair it. One, if it is a molar or area that a cement can get packed in, Fuji can be used, which is a remineralizing cement consisting of xylitol, zinc, calcium, phosphorus, flouride, etc. that helps rebuild. There also is a kit produced by HealOzone that is high in flouride. If you are against flouride, you can use Recaldent or Novamin which are both sold in gums and pastes that have remineralizing agents (calcium and phosphorus) or....with foods...however you choose to go about the remineralization process.

It was recommended that my son get pulpotomies in his one year molars. We refused and took him to Wisc for HealOzone and Fuji...one year later the dentist who first recommended pulpotomies (baby root canals) said they were just fine and required no treatment after looking at an xray, though 15 minutes earlier he was scoffing at the "pink" fillings.

I am really excited about the direction dentistry is now heading. In the very near future, there will be US options beyond the fill and drill method...so much safer, proactive, and gentler for our babes.
