So for all of you CFL bulb users out there...we just had a bulb burn out that was put in during the summer. Dh took it out and the base had yellowed and there in the fine print it said not to be used in a fully enclosed globe (or recessed fixtures), such as many of ours are. We didn't know that so I wanted to put it out there for anyone else who didn't read everything before buying. 
We found some at Home Depot that were much cheaper than the GE that we had AND they were labeled as safe for fully enclosed globes. I'm guessing that was why our "long-lasting" bulb blew out so soon!
