October 2007! - Page 8

Hi Mamas!

I am soooo excited to join you!

I'm Salihah. My EDD is Oct 10th! This is my sixth pregnancy. I've been breastfeeding for almost 7 years straight now (through 3 babies, not one! ) I had a miscarriage in December and was heartbroken, it was amazing to me to get pregnant AGAIN within a month of my misc. (Considering we only had sex once )

Have you all told your families and friends? Did any of you do it in a creative way? I'd love to hear your stories.

My dh and I are waiting to tell everyone, just a bit longer, but I'm looking for some creative and fun ideas to share the news!

Looking forward to getting to know you all! :

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone!!

We have the same due date!! We are slowly telling family and friends already...I couldn't wait. I am making a T-shirt for DS (16 months) that says "Big Brother in Training" I found some Iron on Transfers at Walmart that I can run through our printer. We'll see how it turns out. We're going to a family gathering this afternoon that I'm hoping for him to wear it too...

I bought some maternity capris for this summer from Motherhood Maternity today. It made me so happy. I am really excited about this pregnancy, and finding out the differences between being pregnant in the summer this time.

I bought a maternity tank top from Motherhood today! I got it on clearance for $15, I thought that was a pretty good deal. I went through the maternity clothes I have from dd and the stuff I got off of freecycle over the summer (getting ready for when we were going to ttc) and I have way more than enough pants (6 pairs of pants, including overalls, 3 pairs of capris, a and a pair of shorts) and a bunch of tops (some that I don't really care for, but that's ok.) Dh and I kind of agreed to buy (new or secondhand) something new more often than we did with dd (we spent a total of $150 on my maternity clothes with her) so that I can feel better (I was really lazy when I was pg with dd, lol.)
ETA: This is the top I got:

Did you give Motherhood your phone number?

My SIL who is due at the end of March has all my maternity clothing so I'll have to make do with yoga pants and t-shirts until then.

I was in mat clothes by 10 weeks last time so I will definitely have a few weeks of wearing sweats and stuff around the house before I get my clothes back.

Sara, you might want to try freecycle in your area. It seems as soon as someone asks for maternity clothes (or baby clothes) someone responds pretty quickly.

I hate to do that when I have a huge wardrobe of maternity clothes waiting for me as soon as my SIL is done with them. I'd rather leave the free mat clothes for someone who really needs them. I'm happy to make do with yoga pants and hubby's t-shirts if I have to. I adore my SIL and every time I see her big belly in one of my t-shirts it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

I was working in an office environment when I was pregnant with my second so those 3 bins of clothes have everything from jeans and t-shirts to business clothes and church dresses.

What I would do in that case is accept a little, and then freecycle it right back out when you get your clothes back. I understand where you're coming from, not wanting to take anything from the needy, but I figure if you ask for them (rather than ask for some that are offered) it's not taking anything from anyone that would need it (because if they needed it, they would ask for it, right?)

I'm sort of afraid of jinxing it, so I'll write really small.

Hi, everyone.

Does anyone have any experience with the BellaBand?
http://www.bellaband.com/

I wonder if it would be worth it?
I remember struggling with pants and skirts when prego with dd.

mrsrwbabe, I JUST heard about this, and good things. I think I'll get one -- hey, I can do that "layered top" look that all the cool kids around me seem to be sporting these days (I am so out of style!) Just looked at this site and am excited it's at a store near me!

glendora, sticky vibes for you!

Welcome all new Oct. mamas!

Welcome, Salihah! We have a lot in common too -- I've been bfing for 7 years, over 3 kids, too; I had a m/c in December; and I got pg again before having a period. It's scary, but exciting, isn't it? Do you have any thoughts about what might have caused your m/cs? I'm thinking low progesterone, and I started on vitex after my m/c in December.

For any mamas interested, there is a great 'Pregnancy after Loss -- February' thread going on over in pregnancy & birth loss. Lots of extra understanding and support there.

Liam's Mum, any luck with the midwives?

I've been feeling more nauseous and tired over the weekend. I went to bed with a headache and general yuckiness at 10 last night... woke up at 6:30 feeling yuckier and dehydrated... and after drinking some water, stayed in bed until 8:00! But I felt much better, and luckily my older kids cooperated. My toddler got up when I did, but my older two slept until after 9.

They are supposed to get back to me this week and let me know if I'm "in" I went with the group that delivers at the hospital nearest me, thinking if I stay over for whatever reason, we'll be close to home for DS. Now to think (we've got lots of time of course!) who to get to watch him on the big day...

I really like the top! I tried to cut and paste the capris I got, but could not get it to work. They are plus size and an olive green color. I think they are really cute. I probably spent about 150 on my maternity clothes for both of my last 2 pregnancies. I was really lucky with my son, because someone loaned me 2 huge bins full of almost brand new brand name stuff. I felt so lucky. She is due in June, but I hate to ask her again. I will probably go to Freecycle or the like for the rest. I love the giving and taking that goes on with being a mom and maternity clothes (and baby clothes and stuff). :

Oh, and yes I did give them my phone number. (duck) Although they already had it from when I bought something 3 years ago.

So this looks great...I might try it...but I still don't get how it works...anybody explain? How does it work if you're using it with your pre-preg jeans?

Thanks!

mamablair, I *think* how it works is, you can leave your pants undone, and then you put this tube-top thing around the top of your pants to hide that (and so they stay up).

Hi, I got a BFP today. I am feeling very cautious about this one because I do not feel one iota pregnant and this cycle was weird. But, I think I upset some people on the last thread with my news. I feel awful. So I am switching to this thread and maybe that will be positive thinking on my part. I recognize some of you from the other thread. How are you all doing?
