Sometimes cramps that you feel during this time are also gas or your body preparing for the baby.It can be completly normal as long as you don't have spotting with it. I know it is hard not to worry though.

thanks! no spotting or anything, so thats good! Its just weird because I usually get the same type of thing right before i get my period, and Im STILL waiting for it! I have to keep telling myself, no, you arent going to get it! youre PG!! look at these tests!

Andrea, I'm also in Ontario, in North York. Call the midwives asap; they fill up fast, and women who have had a midwife in the past are given preference, I believe.

I've nursed through all of my pregs (except the first) and for me, my milk dried up at the end of the first trimester. At that point, it was sometimes really annoying and a bit painful to nurse, but it was still better than having to deal with a cranky toddler while I was pg and tired, IMO. Then some colostrum came in near the end of the preg. Having a nursing toddler really helps avoid engorgement once all of the milk comes in, and your nipples are ready as well. We also mixed up and changed around beds and sleeping arrangements several times as the kids grew.

I'm not sure about BC, but in Ontario, you can just call. I don't even have a family doc right now, I just call as soon as I get the positive test and they take my info. But they don't make an appointment earlier than 8 weeks, apparently. But BC might be different.

midwifes

what do you say when you call a midwife?

I'm having some provider difficulties as well.

I am going to have a homebirth. I will make a contingency plan for a hospital birth, but I'm going to have a homebirth.

Problem: There are no hb mw's in our town -- in fact, there aren't any for 3 hours any direction.

Solution: Find one who is willing to travel. However, so far everyone has said no. They've told me to have a hotel birth in their cities but I want a birth in my home. I am on state lines, and I've found one mw who is willing to look into getting certified in this state and if she can she'll help me. I found a provider here in town willing to do my prenatal care even though I'm planning a homebirth -- the CNMs here work with doc offices who prohibit them from working with homebirth patients. : I feel like it would be easier to buy 50lbs of an illicit drug than to get a homebirth in this town.

So send me some good thoughts of finding someone willing to help me!

"Hi, my name is X and I'm pregnant!"

(And then I usually rush in to add where I live and would she PLEASE consider driving there for a homebirth????? PLEASE!!!!)

"I'd like to make an appointment/consultation with you."

I'm not being flip; is that what you mean?

good luck finding a midwife who can do a homebirth! here the law is that your midwife must live within 40 min or so of you. i really wanted a homebirth with DS but couldn't find a m/w, now that i have one for this babe, i'm not so sure about the homebirth, after how crazy things went last time (insane tearing, needed surgery immed after birth)...i can't help but wonder though, if i would have had such problems if i'd been at home...

Welcome, mamablair! Both to the ddc and to the impatient testers club. I have the same due date as yours, but I tested (and got a faint positive) on Jan 22nd.

moonfroggy, you might want to try Finding Your Tribe if you're looking for a midwife. You can post in your state and ask if anyone has a mw to recommend.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm kind of jealous...a BFP on Jan. 22. I tested 3x before my BFP but I just had a gut feeling so I had to keep testing!

This must be a fertile month for us, DS #1 EDD was 2 years and 1 day exactly to this one...

Hi everyone, haven't read the whole thread yet but I will later today-- I am LTB, and I think I'm pregnant but still waiting on a VALID test result.

I have a baby that was born last October-- three months old!!!-- so if we are pregnant it would be a wonderful, exciting OOPS and we would have our two youngest one-year apart! : You know, I love the idea though. :

I also have a 2.5-year-old. I'll write more later . . .

Hey, can I join?! I cannot believe I am in here already: I have a nursing 18 month old, and DH and I have been "living dangerously" for a while. I just had my first ppaf on December 15 and I got my BFP on Jan. 30th. That puts my due date at September 21, but I tend to ovulate late in my cycle and I don't think I conceived until mid January, which would put my dd @ October 10.

Congrats to all of you ladies on your BFP's, and please count me in the exhausted+insomnia club!

Funny, I've been thinking the same thing! Silly, eh? But yeah "Hi, I'm pregnant" sounds funny, 'cause I think they'll figure that's why I'm calling!

Good luck!

Congrats to all the Oct. mommies, btw!

Brisen, thanks so much for the tips -- I was considering the m/w in North York actually, but I'm kind of in between and there are other m/w that have been recommended to me that have privileges at the hospital closer to home (I'm thinking hospital birth right now). Today I will call. (And thanks for the pep-talk re: nursing while pregnant.)

YumaDoula, I hope you find a m/w and get the birth you want!

Mamablair, as to telling, I don't know either! Last time we waited until 12 weeks, but had (heaven forbid) anything have happened, I know I would have turned to my family for support, so...This time, I thinking I may tell my family earlier. In fact, when we told my mom about DS, we gave her a "grandma" bday card, and we're seeing her for her bday on Sunday so I was thinking I'd do the same thing. DH says it is up to me to whether we should wait or not. I for sure won't tell work until 12 weeks though, unless I pop...
