if your DH works and you're a SAHM or work only a few hours a week does he claim you as a dependent on your return if you're filling jointly?

i should clarify why i ask- i always thought it was a no-no to do it that way but one of DH's friends said it's legit and to do it. i feel uncomfortable because i just don't know but DH trusts his friend.

On a joint tax return, you can claim an exemption for yourself and your spouse, even if one of you did not work and/or had no income for the entire tax year. This has the same tax benefit as if you were to claim a dependent.
