Frugal meal planning tutorial - any interest?

Not to sound like an insufferable know-it-all, but I have been asked by 3 different people today (you know who you are! ) if I would share my methods for spending an average of $200 for groceries per month to feed a family of 5.

I suppose I could just do group p.m.'s to those 3, but I was wondering if there were other people who might be interested in the information.

It would probably take the form of a step-by-step "course", with assignments, and projects.....(I'm still sorting out the format : ).

I'm interested for sure. We are paying down debt and saving for an emergency fund and the grocery bill is the big place to cut. I'd love a goal of $200 a month!

Go nuts and post it here. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to read.

Sure, I'd love to see it. Maybe there are some meals I can incorporate in to our eating style.

I really want to learn how to meal plan! Please share your wisdom here.

Also, besides the money-saving part, can you post how you actually do it? I mean, your process: do you look through cookbooks first, do you have ingredient lists for each recipe, just all the nitty-gritty details.

That's where the assignments and projects come in. (I'm going to teach you the way my mumma taught me. Just don't feel insulted if the whole thing is reminiscent of Junior High Home Ec! )

YES!!!

If you decide to not do it, I would love a PM, series of PMs, or whatever!

Yeah!!

I have been telling kathirynne (IRL) for ages that she should do this thread...(I'm also one of the 3 that asked for the information today. : )

I'll be taking copious notes: we're a family of 10 here! (I know that I won't be able to get my grocery bill down to $200 per month; I just really want to master the theory and the method.)

Now I'm intrigued... theories and methods? Do we need a really high IQ or something to make sure we understand it?

(sorry, I'm a little punchy today)
