just thought I'd share, since I was here about 6 months ago picking your brains about all things adoption-related, and many of you were very helpful.
We've signed on with our local homestudy agency and gotten many of the documents we need to deal with, and have also sent in the preliminary application to the agency we have chosen to deal with the Ethiopian end of things. We're really excited, but somewhat overwhelmed at the same time -- what a process!
anyway, thanks for the help!
cheers!

) and they are a very reputable, helpful, ethical, etc agency. However, their wait times are getting longer and longer (like all others in ethiopia) and there is a brand new agency here in Canada called Kids' Link that is now doing Ethiopian adoptions (new agency for Ethiopia, but lots of experience) and their wait times for a referral are significantly shorter. I questioned this like crazy, but their explanation of why that is seems to make sense (new agency, the way they link kids to families, the way they process documents, etc), and the head of the agency seems really great, trustworthy, etc. So, we're sort of taking a leap of faith, but I feel good about them, and there are quite a few of us involved with them at this point. Only time will tell, I suppose...
