WOO HOO!!!! We Made Progress!!!!

As some of you know I am an exclusive pumper in the process of weaning Ds back onto my breast. For some time now I have been able to get him to latch occasionally but with a nipple shield. Today I offered Ds my left breast with the shield and once he was done with that breast I put a little sugar water on my right nipple and away he went. I got Ds to latch without the shield on my right breast and within a matter of a few seconds. Between both of my breasts he fed for an hour. About half an hour per side. Along with getting Ds to latch without the shield my next goal will be to increase the feedings on my breasts.

if it helps...dd was only able to use the shield for about a month and then we nursed for two full years after without it quite successfully! It's a nice feeling to lose the shield eh? I hope the progress continues! You're a strong and wonderful mamma for giving your babe the best!

ps, we are in ontario too!

Congratulations! I know how GOOD that feels. I remember that my dd took my breast w/o the shield the day after her 2 month birthday and I don't think I even breathed for the 15 minutes she was nursing. And just like your ds, she latched right on the other side without missing a beat. We haven't looked back since and now she's nearly 7 months! Yay good for you!

Congratulations. I can foresee a time when some other Mom posts a question about "Wooing Baby Back" and I'll tell reply telling them it can be done and thinking of you.

That is great! My twins have been stuck on the SNS. I have been trying to get them to nurse without it. They are 13 mo. now - ugh! I will have to try the sugar thing or possibly maple syrup. Great idea! Congratulations! I hope and pray that I will one day get there. I am not giving up! I like to nurse at least 2 yrs. and even longer if babies will go with that. :
