Feedback for Your Writing

Where do you go to get feedback on what you write? I normally have my husband read and give constructive criticism, but he's too nice.

Specifically, I have a very short story (under 3k words) that I'm trying to write for a story telling contest in a medieval/fantasy/RPG, and I haven't written in ages. I need to find someone who can give me objective, helpful criticism.

Where do you find people like that?

I began a writer's group for just this kind of feedback, but if you don't want to start your own, most Barnes and Noble's host one.

fanstory.com. There is a 5.95 a month fee to post and get criticism, but it is very constructive. I love it. And, you read and comment on others work as well. The good thing about the site is that it is not a love fest, the writers are really trying to help, but they are polite. I have a short story on there that I was able to polish up a lot. I need to get cracking and get another one up.
