so the longies thread reminded me... I've seen all of your photos of gorgeous babes in BabyLegs... they sure are cute, but what are they for?

ETA: Did you guys know there's a Huggalugs (like BabyLegs) co-op going on now? I'm in! http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=594282

I make my own from knee-high socks on sale at Target to use with mei tai's in the cold weather-- one more layer on the part that's sticking out and so cute with shoes. I expect that when it's warmer out, they're great for babes in onesies when crawling.

But mainly, it's just the cuteness factor, for me. :

Um, too look cute, of course. Duh!

Actually, I have two truly good uses for them. One is when my DD needs nakey butt time. I put babylegs on her and nothing rlse on her bottom and let her air out. The other use is when I will be slinging her in the MT and I put them on her under her pants so when her pants hike up her legs are stll warm.

The other 90% of the time, though, it is only so she looks cute! Isn't she adorable in my avatar? :

lol, I seriously didn't even read magpiedee's answer until after I posted!

ditto, ditto, ditto!

its freakin cooooold here, every layer helps!

I use them around the house all of the time to make diaper changes faster. She wears BabyLegs, socks and a t-shirt. No pants or snaps to undo for the diaper change!

We use them for bare bottom time for my training 2 year old and as an extra layer of warmth for Charlie. It's 1 degree tonight. 1. A degree. Yeesh.

Luna wears them under dresses and with tees and her diapers. Sometimes it is hard to get regular baby pants to fit over cloth diapers. So, she wears long sleeve tops, diaper and babylegs or huggalugs.

Jen, I always wondered the same thing! I thought, hmm, scarey flashback to 80's legwarmers. Aerobics class.
But that makes PERFECT sense because when Aria is wrapped she always has her little calves sticking out of her pants that ride up AND we have all hardwoods so I was feeling bad for her when she gets to crawling age. Now somebody can fill me in where they get them from. Favorites anyone?

aaah... thanks!

magpie, how do you make them out of knee socks?

I think they will be great for protecting those little knees when they start crawling, too! My dd wears them with dresses, since she is PL'd - it is easier to get just panties down and not have to do the pant thing. I just love them!

www.babylegs.net or some people are selling home-made ones at www.diaperswappers.com and they just closed a co-op for huggalugs.

My 5 year old wears Luna's rainbow babylegs when at gymnastics, too.

i've found some great ones on the trading post here too... mdc mommas have such style! i love it when they're ready pass on their babylegs!

I use them on DD's arms when she wears short sleeves, or on her legs with a onesie. They really "stretch out" our clothing budget.

Ya, my 9 year old also wears them under short sleeves because it's chilly in her classroom (and she looks cool! ).

a question about babylegs...

do you prefer wide cuff or comfort cuff?

do you have a chubber or a skinny kiddo?

i just splurged and got a bunch wide cuffs : (harder to find) which are our favs.

I love my babylegs! I second all the pp plus they make ec a breeze, they are ever fashionable, make a great second sock layer when out on walks, and I love that dd can wear them for a long time. They're baggy on her now, but as she gets length, they'll fit just perfect!

I bought a bunch for DD1, but they always leave red marks on her legs. I haven't tried them on the new one, but she's a chunker, too.

This thread reminded me that I have a new pair to list on the TP. Thanks!

They're blue polka dot (new in package) and I was planning to ask $8 ppd. They're cute, but not very girly.
