Name this symptom....

Hi Mamas,
Last night I felt this pinching, i think somewhere around or on my cervix. I noticed it after I went pee, and it continued intermittently over the next hour or so. It hurt and felt like a sharp cutting kind of pinch. The reason I think it was on or around my cervix was because I've experienced that feeling when getting my annual pap. Does anyone know what this is or might be? It didn't feel at all the way labor has been described to me as feeling....but being a first timer I wasn't completely sure. Thank-you for the feedback.

Oh, did your OB/midwife forget to mention that babies keep sewing kits in there with them?

Not trying to be too silly, but yah, those stabbing scissor feelings are totally normal, just something you've never experienced from a babe before!

I tend to get them a lot more on teh days I'm up a lot, or in the evenings, or when I've been walking a lot... some of them really take me by surprise, and sometimes they aren't so severe.

I'm guessing it's probably baby's head up against your cervix. I get those same types of feelings. I remember when I was getting an internal with my first pg (at my doctor's office) and when she said "This is the head" I thought, OK! Now I know what that is!

I get twinges like that now too and figure it's her head working its way downward. They are kind of irritating though!

seriously, the head is moving into the cervix... welcome to the end of pregnancy "YOW THAT HURT!!"

Oh baby, I've been having a lot of those too-and I never knew what it meant. I'm hoping for a quicker labor this time around, and that is nice to know that bebe is low!

It's likely the baby's head but it could be GBS. My midwife said sometimes a grabby, pinching, sharp pain at the cervix can be GBS showing up. Are you or have you had the GBS test yet?
