any thumb suckers?

We were sure Erin would be a thumb sucker as soon as she found her hands... this girl was such a comfort sucker from birth.

Well, it's been more than a couple of months since she found her hands & still no consistent thumb or finger sucking. Don't get me wrong, she always has her hands in her mouth... chomping & sucking (boy do they get cold being wet all winter!), but she doesn't favour any thumb/finger & doesn't do it for comfort.

How 'bout yours?

Nope. Just a thumb chewer..or should I say pirhana...he bit a bleeding hole in his finger this morning with those daggers of death.

Not here either. He chews on his entire fist and but suck it all. He's a big comfort nurser too so I'm surprised.

DD isn't much of a comfort nurser, I guess only if she is sleeping in my arms (that's EVERY nap during the day), but other than that, she eats and she's done. BUT, in the last 4 days she has begun to suck her thumb! She rolls onto her tummy, flips her head to the side and sticks her thumb in and sucks! She'll lay there for 15-20 mins. completely content on her TUMMY sucking! It's totally weird! I also don't want her to be a thumb sucker forever...this might be because I think I see 2 teeth coming in the bottom, but if that's not it, I think maybe I have to figure out a way to stop it...

He's more of a toe sucker!

Yeah, same here! DD slurps on stuff, but isn't a thumb sucker.

Aria would rather suck MY finger although she loves her fingers in her mouth. I am glad she isn't. I sucked my thumb till I was 12- couldn't be conned out of it for anything. Not what I want to deal with as a parent!

Ian always has somebody's finger in his mouth. Sometimes he sucks his thumb, sometimes one of his fingers, lots of times my fingers, he chews them about 80% of the time. We do let him have a paci. Mostly for car rides and sometimes around the house. He isn't really dependent on it like dd was, but we'd rather have him with a paci that we can help him give up than a thumb.

Oh you mean her thumb? She seems to prefer my thumb lately...she can suck so hard I swear she can take the nail right off! Whenever she attaches herself to dh's thumb or finger he shakes his head and says he can't believe how much suction she has and how he thinks breastfeeding women are amazing for regularly submitting their nippies to that!
Although, I must add, if she does become a thumbsucker, I think it's ok...I have no problem with her soothing herself, and this is coming from a former childhood thumbsucker...I was 6 before I broke the habit! My parents thought I would quit when I was ready, and I did. Ah, I digress...

No and I am surprised because his sister is a hardcore thumb sucker.

Ah Lucas has taken to trying to suck his thumb *while* he's breastfeeding. It's not a pleasant feeling though I think it's kind of cute (now).
