It is 446am est and I am in the basement with my DH (sleeping on one couch) my 4 yr old and 2 yr old on the other couch, covered up and laying on towels.
It all started at 1am this morning.
Weird!!!!! All my kids, even my 10 month old started vomiting! And they were all in separate places, too.
Why oh why did I make Pizza last night?!?!?!!?!: Nothing worse than tomato :Puke
So now, after several tag-team vomiting matches between my older girls, things have sort of slowed down. Needless to say- I am doing the laundry and just finsihed scrubbing the floors in the bedrooms.
The baby is out-thankfully still nursing.
I am starting to feel ill and am really really sad that everyone is sick!

Anyone else wanna cry with me???:

thanks for letting me whine!

I'm sorry to hear all the kids are sick....
It happened to us about 2 weeks ago. First my 1 year-old and then my 3 -y-old and me. Vomiting is not fun. And then the diarrhea. And all the laundry...It'll be over soon.... keep them hydrated. After the worst is over give them lots of probiotics.

Oh, yickee yuckee ... whine away, I don't blame you. We had it a couple of weeks ago, too. DD, then me, then DH, all within four days. And it hit me the worst, I actually called DH to come home to help (third time in almost five years!).

Ditto on the above advice, and hang in there!

thank you for the support! What would be the best probiotics for these guys? BTW, I've skipped the vomiting-myself- and went straight to the diarrhea! uggh!

Lactobacillus reuteri is supposed to stop diarrhea but I have never tried it myself. I think Nature's Way makes it, it's called Primadophilus Reuteri.
I have tried Culturelle which is L. GG and is great, too. You can just open these and mix them in something like apple sauce or yogurt.
Or you can just try a good quality sugar free and full fat yogurt like Erivan or Brown Cow or Stoneyfield. This one has reuteri in it but the added pectin is a bummer.
Bananas are constipating and high in enzymes. So are avocados. So these are good to try first. My kids had no appetite for several days, so don't be surprised if they don't want to eat. Drinking is more important. But not juices or sugary drinks. Unfortuntely even Pedialyte and has so many undesirable ingredients but it's more important to give them the minerals, not just water.

right now I am giving about 1 tablespoon of water to them each and waiting 1/2 hour before giving any more. It takes about 10 minutes to throw it back up. So far they have gone 15 minutes w/out throwing up.
Are there alternatives to the pedialyte? I am tempted to give them their vitamin once they can keep down water.

Actually it sounds like food poisoning to me.

: sounds horrible, that sucks.

a vitamin would probably come back up. i can barely stand them when i'm well! you might try very diluted emergen-cee packets.

you can buy trace minerals at the health food store. they're very concentrated. just 2 drops in a glass of water, or 20 in a half gallon. they are great salt lake UT salt with the sodium removed. makes the water taste like fancy european mineral water (but no bubbles). maybe with a little sugar/honey, very weak. when they're feeling ready to eat again try plain rice or boiled potato first.

and of course, try homeopathic remedies, i'm at work so i don't have my book, but the health food store people should have boiron brand (~$5 each remedy)and could walk you through a few to try. the bottles say to take 5 pellets, but you only need 2, get the 30C potency. you can try nux vomica, or ipecac or some others i forget, and for diarrhea we always get relief from podophylum peltatum. if you get an improvement, then you have the right remedy. it may not be the same remedy for each person, it depends on what symptoms they feel. if they improve then wait, only give the remedy again if they start to feel worse again, or after several hours. if there's no initial improvement you can give the remedy again after an hour or so, if there's still no change then try a different remedy.

all this assumes you can get out the door, otherwise try very dilute apple juice <1/4 strength to start, or weak honey/sugar water.

Doubly that.

I just dont buy virus' hitting all at once, just like that.: Poor you.

Also, I think 80% of stomach thingys are food poisonings anyway. I read that somewhere.

I hope you all feel better. Just keep pushing the water, little by little.

I thought about food poisoning, and we had some company over who ate th pizza, too and the were fine. Iam wondering what the girls and I had before company.
Right now- I have a fever and every square inch of my body aches.
the girls seem okay. Sara ate some icecream, and no one has thrown up since the morning.

thanks for al your input!

food poisoning actually takes a couple of days to hit, but people blame whatever they ate last, maybe because it's what comes up.

and i'd think everyone could get a virus at the same time if they all got exposed at the same time, say visited someone shedding virus before knowing that s/he was sick. plus fever and achey sounds like virus symptoms.
