No pain, but could this be thrush?

My right areola has been very chapped for the last few days. The nipple has a white blister-like spot on it, but that has occurred before. I am not experiencing any pain or discomfort. My son is 2 years old, and is just getting over a bad cold. He has been complaining that his mouth hurts, but I assumed that was from the onset of two-year molars, now I am not so sure. He has a chapped rash around his mouth. I am 8 months pregnant and have started to notice colostrum, so my son has increased his nursing sessions (from only two per day to about four or five). Because I am not in any pain, I wouldn't have suspected thrush. But my son's complaint about his mouth hurting AND the fact that my areola is chapped as is his mouth has made me wonder. He does not have any white spots in his mouth, and he doesn't complain of any pain while he is nursing. Could this be thrush, and if so, what can I do about it? I've never had it before. Thanks!

This sounds like thrush to me. I did the rx route, with nystatin and diflucan, but it comes back when you pass it back and forth. So I just ate a ton of plain yogurt, took acidopholus tablets, and rubbed some yogurt on my nipple and inside DDs mouth. It took about 4 days for it all to clear up, but I kept on this protocol for a week. Since then, no troubles.

Leta--do you happen to know if acidophilus tablets are safe during pregnancy? I can look it up, just wondering if you had any experience with that. Thanks!

it does sound like it, but it is weird that you feel no pain.
so that makes me feel like you do not have it.
but doing some of preventitives will help.
acidilophillis is fine durning pregnancy.
get some probiotics and wash your nips with vinger after each nursing might just nip your case in the bud (or boob).

keep an eye on it b/c thrush sucks!

I don't think you have thrush. A blister or bleb isn't typical for thrush. Maybe the chapping is do to an improper latch? I'm not sure on that one as I've never nursed while pregnant before.
