I just bought a "Happy Hangup"

Oy- we are so desperate for sleep in my family. I have a 18 mo old who will NOT sleep without sleeping on either DH or I. DH has been sleeping with and getting up with her so I can get some sleep. She is slowly getting a little bit better (we have had to take her off of eggs, peanuts, gluten and soy), as in she is no longer screaming inconsolably every night. Knowing that we will also be losing sleep because I will soon be nursing a newborn at night. Anyway, we are going to hang this thing over our bed and pray that it will help her. She loves being bounced, swung and rocked.
It was lots of $$ that we don't really have, but sleep is more precious than money these days. I hope it works.

Does anyone else have one?

Holy Moly! That is pricey but it looks really neat! I have been thinking all the time about how precious my sleep is right now and luckily my kids haven't been giving me any trouble lately. I hope this works for her and for you!!

No, I don't have one but I've always wanted one. Very cool! Let me know how it works out!

It ended up at about $230 US including shipping and the cushion. We figured that between her and this new baby we can use it for 3 years. So that is about $76/year or $6/month. It is cheaper than an Amby, which we couldn't use anyway because she is too big, although it doesn't have a stand.
What we are currently doing isn't working, co-sleeping with everyone isn't an option at this point. We had to do something....

Well if you look at what people would spend on a crib I guess it is the same! And the way you broke it down makes total sense! It is worth it for your sanity!

When we had our firstborn, we had to have a crib! Very expensive & used about 30 times over the course of his life~~ Mainly I used it for when I needed him to be in one spot while I was fetching something else
$6 a month is a pretty good deal over 3 years~~
Make sure you let us know how you like it!!

i have one, but we just bought it for this baby, so i have no idea how it's gonna work.

it's up, the contractor came and put mondo hooks in the beams, one upstairs, one downstairs. it looks beautiful, and we also bought an organic sheepskin to put in it.

i'm excited, but am still planning on co-sleeping at night. this is just for naps. we don't use cribs.

all my friends but one who have used an amby baby have loved it. so, we'll just have to see... watch, this baby will sleep anywhere!

(my son never napped... he took little 25 minute naps as long as i was holding him and that was it)

Where did you get your sheepskin? We have exposed beams in our bedroom, so I am planning on looping chain around it. How long did it take you to get it after you ordered it? We are chomping at the bit because we are desperate for anything to help dd2 sleep.

uh, long ugly story about the hangup. when i first saw them last winter when i was pregnant and lost the baby, a woman i know online contacted me that she did indeed sell them through ___________ (well known online company that does parties for discounts). did i want to have a party and get it half off? okay. then i lost the baby and didn't contact her for like 6 more months. then i did and asked to have the party and she told me she couldn't do it but a woman she knows could do it for her. okay, so we move ahead with the party, after me asking point blank could i still get the hangup through her half price if i have the party? yup she tells me.

so i have the party, sell $400 worth of stuff only to have her email me and say "oops, that you can't have for half off" and then tells me this crazy thing about how it's discounted if you have a party.... ends up with shipping being more than i would spend if i ordered it right from australia with the exchange.

man was i pissed. i sent her a copy of all the emails saying i could have it for half off (from both of them) and if i didn't get it all my friends and family would be happy to cancel their orders. so i guess she paid the difference, cause she gave it to me for half off ($94) and $40 shipping and it took almost 8 weeks for it to arrive since it came from AU.

so, i love my happy hangup, but would never ever do business with that company again. did you order your's right from AU?

i got my sheepskin from here:

i got the shorne washable one. esp. since it's highly recommended for night time EC-ing too.

UGH- I'm sorry about your loss. I have been there and it really stinks. You did get your Hangup at a good price, although you ned to really fight for it. I would have also been pissed. I think it is because I just expect people to be straight forward with me- even with bad news. Anyway, I bought it full price right from Austrailia. I ordered it online on Saturday, and it shipped yesterday and is coming right to my house.
I know the company you are referring to but I have never done business with them. After having 3 kids, I think I am set with baby stuff so I am not really planning on getting anything else.

I will check out the sheepskin! Thanks!

PS- whenever I see your username, I think of Honeybee Gardens, which is an online store where I got some great nontoxic, water based nailpolish for my daughter for Christmas.
