We checked out the school today--they wanted to put him in Kindergarten! Didn't make the Sept. 1 cutoff, and there is "no way" of testing a homeschooler for advanced placement, only children who have previously attended public or private school. We're talking about a kid who reads Harry Potter on his own! Well, this (kindergarten) turned out to be an entirely different vision of what school was in his head, and he was disappointed with what he saw (yeah, as I am cheering inside--terrible, isn't it!).
So we talked about what to do, and it looks like instead of unschooling we will be setting up a structured "home school". And yes, he WANTS to start getting up a 7 a.m. , he WANTS assignments, he WANTS to do "roll call". So together we will create the perfect school, and we are both very excited!!!
