If you induced naturally, how'd you do it?

In an attempt to avoid medical induction, I made a pitcher of Red Raspberry Leaf tea, and started drinking it on the morning of January 21st. By early that afternoon, I was having bloody show, and contractions by that evening. My baby was born the next morning, 5 days before her EDD. I was shocked the RRL worked!

What have you tried that worked, if you did try to induce naturally?

I'm wondering how you prepared the tea. My mom and I were just going through her herbal textbook this am and she said that they discuss "infusions" and also extracts... I have loose RRL tea and my mom recommended (I"m 38w3d) just making tea w/ it so as not to stimulate contractions, but to have the benefits of the tea in advance...

With DS, I used blue cohosh, but I wouldn't recommend it before 40 weeks as its still induction.

I've been drinking RRL tea my whole pregnancy. How did you do it to induce?

Evening primrose oil, both vaginally and orally for a few days. I also had pizza with tons of oregano sprinkled on top the night before my water broke.

I've been drinking RRL all pregnancy, too. I'm 40 weeks, five days now.

I drank RRL tea daily in the last three weeks or so. I also took EPO morning and night for the last three weeks. I give some credit to the combination of the above for not having gone way over like I did with DD. I don't think it "induced" so much as "made conditions favorable."

I took blue cohosh starting at 40w4d to avoid another 10 lb baby. Had a 9 lb baby 6 days late instead. ditto waiting until 40w minimum- plus it tastes terrible!

Popping in from Feb DDC....

when you used cohosh, how much did you use? Did you use liquid or pill?

I won't be 40 weeks until next week... but I went 2 weeks over with DS and he was 10 pounds so I was looking for a natural induction at 40 weeks.

I already do use EPO.

Thanks!
Cindy

ETA: I am certain of my conception-- so anytime around 40 weeks would be OK for the baby.

Does using a breastpump count as natural induction? That's what I did. But I also know someone who used RRL tea. Don't know how she prepared it though, but it worked for her.

I used 8 drops tincture (alcohol-free) in 1/4 c. warm water every 1/2 hr for 4 hrs. Then, full dropper every hr. for 4 more hours. Start in the am, then try again the next day. I did it for 2 days, then continued the 3rd day until ctx were consistent.
