Getting Tooth Pulled but Breastfeeding-Help!

I am supposed to have a tooth pulled tomorrow under an IV drip thingy and will be totally out for about 20 minutes.

I just realized this may effect my 12 m.o. and the painkillers, too! Crap! Any suggestions?

Do you HAVE to do the IV/general anesthesia thing? I got a wisdom tooth pulled in Poland and was awake for the whole thing..they just injected me with Novocain (without even a topical yikes haha). It was over in just a few minutes and I didn't need more than a couple of Tylenol the next day.

Is is not that simple here in the States?

There are pain killers they can give you that are safe while BFing. I have had 3 c-section, and have had killer pain killers, morphine and percoset with no problems. Dr. should know which ones are safe, and i would go under for the extraction, my Dh just had one pulled 2 weeks ago, and he was awake, and Dr. was talking to him, DH answered and the Dr's hand slipped and stapped thru DH's tongue!!! So basically, go to sleep, and take the meds...all will be fine.

Thanks for your responses.

Because my tooth was so deteriorated, he was afraid it would break apart when he tried to remove it---and it did. I am on penicillin and generic vicodin...but am not taking the vicodin anymore.

I pumped all yesterday and bottle fed my son--boo hoo. I missed the close physical contact and so did he.... but hunger got the best of him and he finally drank the bottles.

We all fine.
