Mucus Plug

Is it always noticeable? I have been reading the other post about it and I've been intently watching for my own. but....no luck. Just wondering if the mucus plug is always thick enough or different enough from other discharge to be noticed. I am pretty good about noting what goes on with my own body, so I'm pretty sure that I would notice a sudden gooeyness with a twinge of red to it. My discharge changed for a day after a doctor checkup, but I'm pretty sure that was because the exam was quite....ummm...uncomfortable. My cervix is, my MW said, behind my baby's head, so it's hard for her to get to at the moment. It would be nice to know if I had lost my mucus plug, so that we'd have a better idea as to when little pumpkin is coming out!

I have found it to be definitely noticable. It really is mucous. It looks like you have blown your nose!

I never noticed it with my first, in fact I think it came out when I was pushing my son out and my midwife broke my water.

With my daughter it came out when I was in labor probably about 5 cm dilated and my water broke. I had her about an hour later.

It is definitely different, as Lanie said it looks like you blew your nose. Your mw could have dislodged a little bit when she checked you. Hence the change after your appt.

TMI here so fair warning

With dd it was extremely noticeable I went to the bathroom to wipe and felt like I was running the toilet paper thru a big hug glob of vasaline. so being to inquisitive person that I am I reached back there to feel my vagina and felt this big huge blob of something in my vaginal opening so I got my trusty mirror and looked and low and behold there was this big ol' wad of pearly white mucus just sitting there in in all its glory

I got some toilet paper and attempted to remove it and with each wipe I felt it tugging on my cervix : I was able to remove all of it but over the next 3 days it kept coming.

With ds it wasnt quiet that dramatic but it was definatly snot like stuff coming out over a few days time in large quantaties. I never had blood in the plug with either one of my kids that only happened after the dr broke my water with dd and in transition with ds.
