Wood Floor nad pet Pee

Someone suggested using aemonia on our foors when the dog pees while we are out.
Is this effective to clean and safe?
Will it hurt my wood floors?
What do you use?

I definitely would not try amonia on my wood floors!!! That is one smell I would not want permeating the wood. Has the urine actually soaking into thewood? If so, you may want that one spot refinished to get the odor out. We recently had that done. that area was resanded and refinished and it really helped with the smell that was already trapped in the wood.

You may want to consider crating your dog or buying a child safety gate and leaving your dog in the kitchen while you are out. This will help you with future accidents...Good luck!

I think ammonia would make it worse!
Don't do it!
maybe a baking soda solution?
or a sprinkle once it is dry to absorbe and neutralize?

DO NOT USE AMMONIA on your hard wood floors. Urine of any kind has ammonia in it and using ammonia on your hard wood floors will only intensify the odor you are trying to get rid of.

I had two dogs and hard wood floors and they urinated in certain area on the floor all the time. I have used everything I could get my hands on to get this smell up. I also found out that using Bleach does not work either. Bleach (I learned recently) also has ammonia in it and will intensify the odor.....so now I use this stuff called OdorMute from the pet store. Mix according to directions and then saturate the area. Do not wipe off. The place needs to be saturated and then as the drying process takes place, the odor is nuetralized. It worked for me. Works great on rugs and furniture too.
