How long do contractions last?

How long do/should pre labor contractions last? Mine are typically pretty long. I don't time them or anything, but just a few minutes ago I had a nice strong one with an accompanying back ache lasting at least 3-4 minutes! Maybe more like 5? Didn't look at the clock.

I've heard they are usually from 45 sec-2 mins long.

My BHs are about 30 sec or less. And the "real" ones are about a minute to a minute and a half.

Sounds like you're in roaring labor...how are you typing? you go!!

lol I'm definitely not in labor! I just get a couple of those big long strong ones a day, with some normal painless BHs mixed in that I pay no attention to. Maybe that means my uterus is nice n strong and will be very efficient once its real labor

Hey all,
Yeah, I have also been having longish type contractions pains.....last night I was wondering if I was starting labor??!! Their really sharp...I can't tell if their contractions or the baby's head pounding on my cervix. They didn't stop until I layed in bed. Ugh.

I get these long achy feelings down low, but at a first time mama I'm not sure what they are either. I know it's not labor, so I just assume it's the baby wiggling down farther and getting ready for the real deal.

yeah, mine last 2-3 minutes also.. they aren't very intense though, so it's not so bad... i wouldn't want real labor contractions to last that long! (though 1-2 minutes is normal)
