I did not get my kitchen done, but it is much further along than when I started, so I'm happy for now.

I got the pantry reorganized and the lazy susan cleaned out. Now there are only light things in there. I've been keeping up with the dishes and my life feels less hectic.

I'd say this was a success. Next month is going to be tough because DH needs to weed out clothes to donate, but "he might need them someday". : Sigh.

Well, I think I'm done with the kitchen. My cupboards are all organized and cleaned out. The only bummer is I broke one of the hinges : on one (and it's the one w/the trash can...so ugly!). Oh well! Dh has the camera so I'll try and post after pics tonight.

Now on to the bedroom!

Well, I have decided to extend February until Friday. So any of you who are citizens of my world, you have until Friday too. Since I rarely know the date and it is impressive for me to even know the day of the week, I consider this a success.

We had to do some room re-arranging due to our co-sleeping arrangement and guests that are due mid month. So, the kitchen has been at a stand still for a bit. I did get a lot done already, though, and am very happy for that. I will post pics tonight.

Nice work to all of you who are finished! I love seeing all the pictures and I think we all deserve a massage.

I think this time change applies in my kitchen! I got the important stuff (read: decluttering/organizing) done, but I'm going over into March for the extras... decorating and the pantry we're setting up in the basement.

I'm looking forward to signing up for March's challenge, too...

I don't think even Friday will help me. I am so sick with a nasty cold, dd has never ending diarrhea, and ds has the same cold I do. I'll be lucky just to keep up with the basics in the kitchen this week. DH even stayed home from work today because I am such a basket case. I had a nice long nap and feel a bit better now.

Given my kitchen wasn't so bad to start with, I am going to call it a wash and move on to the master bedroom on the weekend.

The only drag is I broke the little holders that hold up the metal dividers for my cookie sheets. Not exactly sure what happened there, but now I've got to track down replacements, and the place we got our cabinets from was bought out and no longer carries that brand.

ikea has those

Well I didn't finish either but here are some pictures of what I got done.
These were my goals:

MY PLAN OF ACTION
1. I would like to do some other kind of organization for our fruit rather than putting it on the windowsill and on the counter. Got hanging basket
2. Get some sort of organization/conatiners for my bulk foods that are sitting in bags in the cabinet. Didn't really do this
3.Finish ripping down cabinets about washer and dryer-we started this and didn't finish-use the door from this to put on the cabinet missing a door. Done
4. Paint that wall and put up shelving.Not done-we are actually going to put sheetrock up and then paint. I still haven't bought shelving for this area either
5. Find a better alternative for my appliances than on the bar where you are supposed to sit and eat. Put some appliances in lower lazy susan, some will go in cabinet that we will put above washer and dryer
6. Organize my cleaning closet. Well we tore it out so I did go through the stuff in it. We are going to put up a mop/broom organizer but the wall isn't finshed yet
7. Sort through spice jars and get them spilover off the counter.I decided to replace my spice racks with some I saw at IKEA but they haven't had them in stock yet. Might have to find another alternative. Spices are in a box next to the stove.
8. Get a new burner for my stove. Probably can't see it in photos but I melted my rice cooker to the burner a couple months ago and haven't replaced it yet!Didn't get to this
9. Find somewhere other than the countertop to put the alcohol. DS was playing with it in its original spot. Its now on the top of the fridge


We also tore down the shelving and eating bar that was behind the peninsula the stove is on. We put up new shelves, a cork strip and a drop down desk-we only have a 2 bedroom and don't really have an office space. I also threw out a lot of recipes that I had torn out of magazines-some of them were as old as 2000.

In March, we hope to:
Paint the ceiling and back door
Put up the sheetrock and paint the laundry area dark blue
Put up cabinets and shelves in laundry area
Get new window treatments-no more pink plastic shades!
Sand, prime and paint cabinets white
Print and hang pictures

Wow lisalulu - great job!!! The area you've painted looks fabulous - definitely opens things up. And the counters look so neat and tidy.

I think you picked just about the same color as I did. Excellent choice.

Okay, I should get off my but, clean up the kitchen (today's mess is lying around of course) and take after pictures.

WHAT I LIKE BEST ABOUT MY KITCHEN
i like that my husband bought me a dishwasher - which is right in front of the sink in that picture. - i don't like the fact that it doesn't have a "home" but thats okay!

WHAT I LIKE LEAST ABOUT MY KITCHEN
ummm....everything - but seriously

*I don't like that the former owner did away with the upper cabinet doors
*I don't like looking at the breaker box (above microwave)
*I don't like that there are 3 doors in the kitchen

MY PLAN OF ACTION

*I will completely organize all upper and lower cabinets and MAXIMIZE the space (our kitchen isn't too small, we just have too much stuff) *Repeat to self daily*
*I will make a home for the dishwasher
*I will cover the breaker box
*I will hang a mirror over the stove
*I will deep clean
*I will get rid of EVERYTHING we don't use
*I will replace the trash can (it's REALLY gross)

~*~I am open to any and all suggestions/ideas!!!~*~

okay - i took a few after pics -
*I organized the cabinets and got rid of LOTS
*I made a home for the dishwasher
**I haven't covered the breaker box - ideas anyone?!?!
**I have yet to bug my husband enough to hang the mirror above the stove
