well i have been a lazy ass this month but i finally got off of my butt today. went through 1 pile of videos. gave them a home. on top of the tv so its not really less cluttered but at least i don't have a bunch of videos behind the toys ykwim?

also dropped off a bag and a box at good will. so thats 2 for my tally.

loaded two bigger stuffed animals and 3 small plastic bins one of wich was full of rattles in my so-called e-bay closet. up till now i haven't been couting things as i add them to the closet but i think i'm going to start b/c once they go in the closet i don't have to look at them anymore anyway i guess i'll take 3 for my tally on that.

i'm going to sort more baby clothes tomorrow.

i need to get kurt to take some stuff up to the attic but maybe i can at least drag it outside. it is so cold it is hard to be motivated in the garage.

i also just took all 4 boxes of spare computer/video game/electronic parts : and pout them in the other half of the closet.

didn't go through them at all though just shoved 'em in there

I gave my mom a big bag of magazines to take home with her.

I went through my 2 yr old's clothes and got rid of things which are too stained/whatever. Need to do this more completely with the other 2 kids.

My dh is going to go through his closet this weekend.

Take a deep breath... I'm mentally prepared to go through my craft stuff and my sewing table. I would like to organize it and pare down whatever I can.

I have an ARC pick-up scheduled for the 28th.

Dunno what my item total is, but my goal was to accumulate enough stuff to fill the guest closet (and then get rid of it), and I'd say I'm close to accomplishing that.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone contributing to this thread. It has been a tremendous motivator for me.

I went through my magazine rack yesterday morning and donated 30 of those mainstream parenting magazines, etc., to the office waiting room. What's terrible is that I had to read through half of them before I realized there was nothing of value in them (but I already knew that). All that's left in the mag rack is a puzzle book. Maybe I'll chuck the mag rack too. I also donated two bags of crap to ARC today, and freecycled some window shades this morning. all this added up to about 200 items--give or take, and 800 or so to go before baby comes.

i got motivated tonite we went to pick up a set of bunk beds and the house where they were was so cluttery that i just had to come home and DO something ykwim?

the back of the wagon is loaded up again.

i finally decided to get rid of the infant car seat. i know i want a convertable for the next one so why hang on to it yk? also a box filled w/ baby clothes and stuffed animals.

also went through a box and put some clothes away for the next baby.

put some shoes away that dh doesn't wear very often. (he hasn't noticed yet ) put away two briefcases that neither of us use eever

put some more stuff in the e-bay/yardsale closet

told my dad he could have the kids' table set back. (we just got bunk beds so we really don't have room for it)

decided that the big tote of baby clothes sitting in the kitchen could go in the closet in our bedroom. instead of waiting for dh to take it up to the attic. it will fit just right in that hard to reach back corner w/ taking up good usable space. : haven't hauled it in there yet but...

I struggle witih what to do w/ these. I think I got a free sub. for ordering diapers online. I don't really want to donate them or give them to anyone b/c I don't want to pass along that info to new parents- kwim? So I feel bad about it, but they're going straight into the recycling bin. I need to just cancel the sub to save paper- those mags are such a waste.

Oh, I forgot to count that. I also threw away an infant seat- we didn't use it as a car seat, just a seat for the baby to sit in at home, and I didn't want to give it to someone else or to the thrift shop for fear they'd use it as a car seat and it isn't safe. I hated putting in the trash but I guess a child's life takes precedence over one more piece of plastic in a landfill

Anyway- trying to update more often so I don't forget what I've gotten rid of:

-aforementioned car seat
-about 40 hangers
-4 outgrown AIO's- freecycler actually showed up!!
-4 useless baby toys
-2 of my outgrown/old shirts

more stuff waiting to be freecycled but I'll wait till they're gone to count 'em.

I've been making some HUGE progress!
Got rid of 6 bulking baby things.
Tub - glad it was borrowed because it we only used it 2 times.
Jolly Jumper
Baby wipes warmer - again borrowed and never used
Boppy - borrowed and used the heck out of
6 huge huge tubs of baby clothes.
Phew ... what a huge weight I have given away.

You know I'm eating healthier. I am feeling lighter ... this living simply and giving things away has ramifications on sooo many things. The way I think, the way I feel ... everything

My new thought is: If I have something that I am not using, I am keeping this item from someone who may use it.

So out out out everything goes! Getting ready for our big move back to the west coast! Our plan is to travel with one car and one hitch. My dream of dreams would be to simplify so much that we only move with our car and clothes and some sentimental mementos. Now wouldn't that be nice!

Well, I don't think I"ll be doing the den this week. I think that will be my goal for next months' challenge.

I got a little "Fly Lady" inpired and went through each room and decluttered at least 15 items in each room. I finally went through and added to the garage sale pile:
23 cookbooks
4 vases
6 candles
10 magazines
3 purses
2 wallets
10 items of clothing
12 cups

I also went through the pantry and cleared out about 15 food items to go to our local charity. Plus I probably tossed about 25 old recipe cards.

Total for the month: 439/500

I might just up my goal a little! We'll see!

I have been feeling so unmotivated lately! I did finally finish cleaning our room, I threw away/put in goodwill pile 50 more things conservatively! Now I have to get DH to go through his clothes and shoes! Next project is the basement!:

Hey,

I hope that it is okay that I am posting in this. I know I don't have a goal in my signature but I do in my mind.

One thing that is soooooooooo hard for me to get rid of . . . . . . is my ds clothes that he has grown out of but I have a bag full for my sister (due in late April, she and her dh decided they wanted to be surprised, so if they have a girl I will have to give them to some else ).

You all are doing a great job you're so inspiring. :
