February Decluttering Challenge - Page 4

I will start small, maybe 50 items this month? That is about 2 per day, OK, I can do that.
Erin, that last post (re: the mission) was really inspiring, thank you.

I forgot to update last night...my total for Day One was 45.

My grand total so far today is 52. I'm not counting things that I'm tossing into bags to donate later.
82/350!

Most of it is CLOTHES! :
I got rid of 515 things last month, which was about 4x more than I expected to. I still haven't completely tackled the kitchen, yet. Or *insert scary music here* the storage area..... That's the one I've really been dreading. If I can get motivated, it'll be a big month, for sure!

Woo hoo!

The TV is sold and OUT of my garage!!

I'm only able to add one to my count, but it's one that makes me happy

ETA: I'm adding an extra 9 items for the stuff I'm bringing to my mom's tomorrow: a chair, dog items, CDs, tupperware, etc
post #66 of 300
Since this is my first decluttering challenge I'm going to start small with a goal of 137 items.

Count for the week: 136/500 I'm almost tempted to up it!

I donated three bags to the local food pantry. The rest dh wants to save for a garage sale our neighborhhood holds every year. The only problem is that it's in May and I want to get rid of the stuff now! So I guess our garage will have to hold all the stuff.

Now I just have to convince dh to get rid of a workout gym that we never use. We ususally have it in the garage but we want to turn it into a playroom so he moved it to the backyard ! I'm hoping to Freecycle it this week.

Have an awesome, clutter free weekend!

Just found this thread and oh so perfect. I started cleaning up late January (my closet and dd#2 wardrobe. Yesterday I cleaned up the counter area and worked on my desk. I didn't count how many items though. I'm working on the entryway and coat closet right now. I might start counting number of items but might just go with number of boxes. My goal is 10 boxes (fairly big boxes)

As I was organizing stuff in the laundry room, I found a big pile of prefolds. Some were really nice, high-quality, but there were also a lot of junkie BRU ones that I was using as rags. At least, I told myself I was using them as rags...I haven't actually touched one of them in months. Plus, I don't use prefolds on the kids, just FuzziBunz with hemp or microfiber inserts. So I got rid of a lot of junky old prefolds today, and stored a few nice ones in a drawer where they're out of the way, but available if all the inserts are dirty and the baby needs a new diaper. Ahhh, it's so much clearer in there!

hullo. Can I jump in? I need to get a bunch of crap out of here. I'm gonna say 27 things a week. And maybe I'll finally get rid of those maternity clothes I didn't like?
Got rid of 100 items today! OK, about 50 of them were hangers, but still ...
We are in the middle of construction and need to move out everything we were storing in our house= it's pretty easy to identify stuff to get rid of when you have to physicall pull it out of the house. I'm up to 152/500
post #72 of 300
I'm joining. We have WAY too much stuff sitting around everywhere. I got rid of 96 items in January. I need to work on baby stuff, DH clothes he told me I could ebaY, GARAGE, and closets! Thanks for the motivation, people!!!

Also, I am trying not to buy anything new...and I am trying to stop shopping at Wal-Mart and other big box stores. Haven't been to Wal-Mart in 4 days, woo hoo. Actually, that's pretty good for me.

Okay, get this, my dh, I swear he should just join here..., but anyway, he is joining in for 1000 items from the garage. Really if he gets this done I may just faint. His work schedule hasn't been great, but the thought of him actually going through the garage, makes me very happy. I can't put his challenge in my sig though because I don't have enough room. But it is written here, 26 more days for him
Oh, I guess I should get my butt moving too

That's wonderful!!! Good for him, now you can have some friendly competition in the house. I told my MIL about the challenge and she was very interested - she has a goal of 350, just like me, but she hasn't gotten rid of anything yet. I'm VERY interested to see how this pans out; she is a hoarder. I think she has six garlic presses.

Well, I haven't started the serious decluttering yet, but did get rid of a few random things yesterday.

2 items to the garbage
8 magazines recycled
2 misc piles of paper

12/500

Okay, I haven't done a decluttering session as such yet. But I did pick up the clutter on the floor and everything not yet put away fits in a medium sized basket. I'm going to go through that to day and get rid of/put away everything in it. I expect I'll have at least 10 non-trash items in there to declutter away.

I also picked up the floor in the laundry room and found a pair of scissors that had been missing for months! And I hosted a party last night yet still got all the dishes done.

I have a bunch of sewing to do before War, but the scraps and mess of it will be cleaned up daily, and there's nothing like finishing a project to declutter the fabric bin!
Lets see, I'm going to start counting:
Kitchen - 10 items.
Coat closet - 13 items.
23/500.
oh, i'm a little late in joining (been down hard with a stomach bug) but i want to play too. i'm going to say 100 items this month. if i get there early, i'll up my goal, but it's hard to feel ambitious when you can't eat. i cleared out way more than that in january, but i've still got clutter?!?
Okay, I think I was over ambitious! I haven't had a chance to declutter in a few days! So I'm not sure if I can make it! I'm not going to lower my goal though until around the 20th or so, we'll see if the craziness settles down before then! I know I have at least 1000 to get rid of, it's just a matter of whether or not I'll be able to get rid of it before March 1!!

Wow this is my first wanderings into the MHM forum, and this thread has INSPIRED ME!!!

I am sitting in my computer room/junkhouse and barely have room to walk around in here.

So can I make my challenge:
"To clear out this room of all but the desk/computer, baby's change table, and storage chest" ?

Because I guarantee this will take me the better part of the month!
