Have you seen this http://www.carifree.com/ ? There was an article about it in our local paper - new business in town. Website doesn't really give much info, but am curious what you guys might know.

There are two types of rinses:

* CariFree Treatment Rinse – A two-part treatment rinse that kills the harmful destructive bacteria on the teeth. It has an elevated pH that is designed to offset the acidic condition of the infection.
* CariFree Maintenance Rinse – Designed to create an environment in the mouth which prevents the destructive bacteria from re-establishing itself. It also has an elevated pH which promotes a healthy oral environment.
The Maintenance Rinse is 0.05% sodium flouride + xylitol.

I went to the site and it makes sense. I am wondering if and when we could purchase this. I haven't heard anything about it from anywhere local.

This would be nice to have the whole family on as long as it is safe.

Does anyone know about that? I know the xylitol is fine. The sodium fluoride (isn't that the same as flouride rinses). I know I had bought some and not used it and it was .05% as well.

You can get about the same effect with 100% xylitol sweetened gum (or mints) and a separate flouride rinse. (The latter available from the dentist office)

I am more interested in the treatment rinse...I wonder what agents they use to kill strep mutants? Does anyone know?

Calcium/phosphorus elevates PH as well...we use Recaldent tooth mousse.
