What to add flax to...?

Just picked up some flax and want to start adding it to things- but what? I"ve got some bananas to use up, can I add it to my banana bread (if so, how much flax?) Do I have to put it in the food processor or can I put it in whole?

TIA!!

Flaxseed has to be ground to be beneficial; otherwise it just passes through whole. I buy it preground at the HFS. The food processor should be fine. A lot of people use coffee grinders that they keep just for flaxseed.

I throw it in all sorts of things: pizza crust, bread, pancakes, hot cereal (just stir in after the cereal's cooked)

You could definitely add it to banana bread. I'd probably use about 1/2 cup. You may have to add a tiny bit more liquid, but check the consistency first because it might be fine with the normal amount.

Flax

Flax can replace the fat in most baking (i.e. sub for shortening, butter or oil as well. The measure is listed on the back of boxes of ground flaxseed, but I don't know if off hand.

i use flax in place of eggs or 1/2 egg half flax. Grind about 1 TBSP in coffee grinder and add some h2o to mix. you will notice it is a bit glutenous. You can also sprinkle it over cereal, salad, really anything. It does go bad fairly quickly so keep the seeds in the fridge and just grind what you need. A coffee grinder works best.

Pretty much anything!!

We ate it to anything the kids can't see it in. I.E. breads, yogurts, applesauces, that sort of thing. Oh smoothies is another good place to throw it in. Try throwing it in a little bit at a time. You can always add more, just not take any out.

you can also sprinkle it on salad. I like it on top of vanilla ice cream, too.

Just made some pumkin pudding and added ground flax to that - came out good.

I like it in oatmeal, bread and on yogurt.
