Both, according to jkrowling.com

I'm a fan! I can't wait. I'm also pre-ordering mine.

I only hope Severus doesn't die. Because ... ummmm, I'm totally in love with him!

I don't think I'll bother preordering. The last two books were everywhere from costco to the gas station practically, so I'm not worried about getting it as soon as it comes out.

I don't want to think about it - its been hard enough waiting, I hate to think the series will be ended too, somehow I almost don't want to read it and have the series end, kwim?

lol if i go a bit early i will either be in labor (due the 25th, but whats a due date but a number anyways?) or HUGELY pregnant.
we are going to B&N pre-order two.
cause we buy two of each, one for us to read, the other for Addy to have.
inevitably one of us reads our copy and the other reads Addys

Me, too! I'm due July 24. I'm wondering if I should save it to distract me during early labor...

OMG : I really thought it would come out for Christmas. I'm surprised movie 5 and book 7 are coming out so close together. I can not wait for July!

Last time I ordered one from amazon and it didn't come until 4 in the afternoon!! We ran into somewhere that morning and they had like 8 billion copies. I was standing in the middle of the store reading when DH dragged me away. It was torture waiting for the mail to come. I'm going to a release party this time and I'll get it then. Then ship the kids to MIL's house and read for the weekend!!

I guess I'll have to buy two copies though since DH and I will be fighting over the book!

My biggest problem will be that my anniversary is the next day and DH will want attention!! How am I going to get the whole book read by Saturday night???

This time I want to stand in the lines at a bookstore the night before--I have always wanted to do that!

We live in the boondocks, so we are planning a family trip to our nearest big city. We're gonna spend the night in the hotel and me and my oldest will go to the party (he'll be 5 1/2 then), not sure about my then 2 1/2 yr old.

I didn't want to drive to the party b/c then I can't read the book until I get home, 1 1/2 hrs later!!

I'm going to dress up as McGonagall. Any idea where I can get an emerald green cloak : Or a good (and easy) pattern?

I am not a sewer (sew-er?)...one who sews, but I want a Harry Potter scarf. When I went to the London movie premier, everybody had one. I want one because I genuinely like it--I wear a lot of shawls, pashminas and scarfs.

I'm a intermediate knitter and am always looking for patterns.

I don't think I could make this for you but maybe someone could. Here are patterns for all the Hogwart houses:
Hogwart scraves

Enjoy.

Would a scarf be hard for a first project if I were to learn to knit? (it has already been a goal of mine)

IN general, I think a scarf is the easiet to knit but this pattern calls for it "in the round"
Again. something that is fairly easy (my sister's first project was a Christmas stocking) but I jsut never figured out how to join the stitches. Someone with knitting experience should be able to show you. Good luck.

A scarf would be super easy for a beginning knitting project!!

ETA: You really don't need a pattern for a scarf. I would just knit on, a size 10 needles, maybe 30 stitches. I would do like, 40 rows alternating maroon and gold. All you need to know is how to cast on, gardner stich, and to finish. Easy Peasy.

Google "Harry Potter scarf" and you'll come up with lots of patterns! Scarves are a great first project! I still have my yarn under the bed for an HP scarf. I'll have to have it made before the release party!

DH and I talked about the release party tonight! He'll be Hagrid. I think I might go as Mrs. Weasley but I'm not sure. I'm just too old (30) to pull off Ginny or Hermione. My kids are both blonde so I'm trying to think who they can be. I think we might get them wigs and let them be Harry and Ginny. Although my daughter is probably a dead ringer for Luna! She's blood and ditzy!

I need to start working on costumes NOW! I probably won't sew them but I'll patch things together from various pics of the characters in the movies!

WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOO! Yep, we're excited about the release of the last book. I've already placed my pre-order on Amazon because I don't want the pest at work to tell me the ending. He did that last time.

That is my fear!!! Everyone will be talking about it, it'll be on tv everywhere! I need to get my hands on a book so that I can read it myself!

I remember a while ago they'd said it would be released on 7-7-07 and that was later denied.
It's been announced by Scholastic (JKR's publisher) and JKR herself, so I'd say that those are pretty reputable sources!

I think I'm going to try to talk DW (who is a big HP fan, so it shouldn't be too hard) into dressing up for the Border's party

:

I was hoping they'd put it off till the 31st since it's Harry's birthday. I have no idea why they didn't - wouldn't it make sense?

I'm going to have to dress up this time since I never have (I've only been to two release parties and I just wore a Harry t-shirt and my Hogwarts jacket). For the 6th book release, I dressed DS up as baby Harry for a costume contest. I put him in a sleeper, drew a lightning bolt on his forehead, and set him in a basket with an envelope marked "To the Dursleys." Unfortunately, he didn't win because the judges decided to award the prize (a copy of the book) to someone who was old enough to read it.

I'm seriously considering dressing up as a Golden Snitch if there's a costume contest near here. I saw directions for making it online somewhere.
