chrissy, ugh about all that. Like you need one more stressor, right?

witt, congratulations again! I'm so glad you had a wonderful day. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Dilemma du jour... what do I do with myself today? We're having a snow day, but there's no snow. Schools are closed due to "inclement weather". It's supposed to be less than 10 degrees all day, and with winchill it's somewhere around 15 below. Too cold for kids to wait for buses, I assume. But what to do with ME? My office policy is that if schools are closed, then my office is closed. That way I don't have people calling me at 6:30 in the morning to find out if their appointment is cancelled. But usually, if schools are closed then the roads are pretty bad and people don't want to come in anyway. Not the case today, and I don't start in the office until 2:00. Even if schools are closed today, it's not the kind of day that people look outside and wonder if their appointment in cancelled... so to close the office I'd have to call every single person. Childcare isn't a problem today, it's Grandma Day. BUT people do know (theoretically) that my office closes when schools close, so I could go there and sit on my sorry duff all afternoon... what to do?
Here in Wisconsin, schools are closed because it is -20 right now w/o the wind chill factored in. Almost every school around here is closed as well. I was supposed to have a chiro appt todat, but I am going to call and see if they are open. Even if they are, I don't think I am going to go because I am worried about the car breaking down and DS and I freezing to death. So.....my thought is that I think you shouldn't go. Most people are going to think twice before going out in this weather. I bet you will have a lot of cancellations. Is there a way to leave a message on voicemail saying the office is closed? Anyway....hopes this helps

Jessica: Cute kids. Has Emma experimented with your makeup before?

Witt: Thanks for the pics. I'm still jealous of how warm it looks where you are. DId I mention -20 here?

I checked out all the pics - Tanya, Sarenka, Kelly, JJoy - all of your babes are simply adorable!

Witt - wedding looked lovely! Congrats!

She's a bit longer, but basically their weight is following the same curve.
Yes, exactly, my dd2 is longer...

Just got the blood results back - I am fine (at last! I lost loads of blood at the birth) but dd2 is a bit under in the iron department. Good job she likes broccoli...

Oh those blissful days I remember when a client didn't turn up and I had my journal and I could still drink coffee...mmm...

witt, lovely pics...

Dilemma resolved. Going to work, but going in an hour later than usual. Several people did cancel, but then that many again called to say "my kids don't have school today, can I bring them in?" so I did a little tetris-like reorganizing and have a very pleasant few hours scheduled. I also confirmed with several people that we WOULD be there this afternoon, lest they be confused. So there it is.

Now, how am I going to manage a shower with all these kids?

It's amazingly beautiful outside. The sun is shining, the sky is blue with just a few flutters of cloud. Looking through the window you would never guess it's bitterly cold out there.

Congratulations, Claire!!!

The wedding looks like it was lovely. Are you and DW taking any sort of honeymoon (now or later once Cerys is older?)

oh, gotta run.

I'm catching up with all the beautiful baby pics. I'm loving the kiddos getting in to make-up, ink pens, and especially the mask for eating! JJoy, I can't believe Mattie is pulling herself up! I loved the play by play shots!

DS had his first taste of solids yesterday (at 7 1/2 months!). DH was eating an apple and he let DS suck on a piece. I think he got more of the juice than he did the actual fruit. He wasn't quite sure what to think of it. He didn't dislike it, but he didn't seem overjoyed about it either.

We tried bananas again. She would lunge for the spoon but make the nastiest face upon actually ingesting. Is this normal? Or is it an obvious indication that she doesn't want any?
It's -15 here with wind chill, and I do NOT feel like going out today. But I have to pay rent. So I'm waiting for dh to wake so I don't have to take the kids. If it's gonna be this cold, it could at least snow. :

I'm just now checking in today. Went to see my chiro today after dropping ds off at school. According to him, I'm a total wreck. Going back in on Wednesday. He's adding some therapy again this time. Must load up some snacks for dd1 and some books to read while I sit for therapy.

I also had to get two front tires and an alignment on the van. Apparently if it's out of alignment too long it eats tires. Spent entirely too much of my day doing that, I tell you. Now I'm finally home with only an hour until I pick up ds.

Sabbath, I think it's normal. The face they make may not be indicative of the taste, but maybe the texture or the new way food feels in her mouth. Keep trying each day and she'll probably come around quickly. If banana isn't appealing, try avocado. Mine always loved avocado.

Tanya, that stinks about your van. I hope the alignment didn't effect anything other than the tires.

Good to know about the food. DS made an awful face with the bit of apple, but he didn't spit it out. I think we'll try turkey or lamb next.

thanks everyone have put more on now so if anyone wants to see a few more.........http://www.dropshots.com/witt

had a really good time and so did our friends. we had 34 adults and 10 kids which was enough. Had it at our own home so was nice and intimate and we set up a play area for the kids on the lawn which was really good, the kids were all really good and played for ages.....

We're off to Taupo again for eight days on Friday. It's the last four weeks of summer so we're trying to catch most of it!!!:

Newsflash - dd is taking steps!! She can walk confidently around the crib (sideways, holding on) and when she's standing holding onto our hands she just -well - walks!! with no encouragement! It's quite scary...she is so small!

Sabbath - the face pulling is normal I think, if she carries on reaching for the spoon then she wants it - just let her pause and resume once she's got her head round it...

Tanya, sorry to hear about your and your van's alignment problems...my back is also wrecked. Luckily, a friend has moved nearby for a couple of months who is studying massage and desperate to practice - and very good too! So I had a lovely massage this evening, I shall send some vibes your spine's way.

sarenka---you've got an early walker there!!! my HEAVENS!!! How cute that must be with how small she is!!
We're feverishly workin' the rock-on-arms-n -eet-and -lop-onto-belly-and-cry maneuver around here.

Clairewitt--you looked heavenly in your photos, I am so happy for you and the celebration it must've been!

Sarenka, that's some newsflash! And I was running here to share that we are frantically trying to get whatever's just out of reach. She's so funny because when she lifts her butt off the floor she has her legs crossed at the ankles, so it's not doing much good. Once today she got her butt up while on her hands, but her belly was dragging. Looked like a pot bellied pig trying to walk

I have a feeling it won't be long now. And my house is a wreck. Must get at least one room free of things that will harm the babe.

Claire, it looks like a fabulous celebration! I'm so glad it went perfectly for you!

Witt, loving those pics! My original dream was to have a clam bake wedding. Unfortunately no one but me was interested in that Anyway yours looked really nice and very much the "atmosphere" I would have enjoyed for our wedding.

DD is doing this too. Except along with the nasty face comes "PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBT!" *shake* That is me trying to get the sweet potatoes off. The ped said to wait until she had the pincer grasp - well she's had that for at least 2 weeks now! (we tried a few cheerios which she pinced like a champ, then ate and promptly blew back at me). So for now we're trying solids weekly. Maybe biweekly
post #97 of 483
DD3 will eat solids only for my mom and dh. Not at all for me!!! All my girls did that. I just didn't remember until i tried feeding dd3 and then let my mom do it and it worked for her. *sign* one day, I'll be able to feed her too. lol

OMG walking - I would die. I'm having enough trouble handling the rolling! I am NO hurry for this little man to crawl. He's just starting to try to get his knees under him - he usually faceplants or ends up scooting himself backward...

We tried a little sweet potato the other day - he was all over it. But we haven't really remembered to do it again

It is officially cold here. The kids are home from school for the second day, and I am a little stir crazy.

Well you have the really good stuff, don't you

By walking I don't mean unassisted, just walking around something she's holding onto or when holding someone's hands stepping forward independently...

I was still kind of shocked though... I remember walking along holding dd1's hands and she was a year old!!

And I feel very : at referring to this as a sressful thing -I mean going to Morocco on holiday hardly counts as a major life problem, but god I so wish she was not so mobile...what are we going to DO with her????

Today's hit, avacado. And a bad bad teething day
post #100 of 483
Sarenka the American English vernacular is "cruising" for walking around holding onto things.

fyi:

Avocado, yum! I eat them by the boatloads.

Sorry to hear it's a whiny clingy teething day.

Very sorry to hear that juice's kids are home for a second day. Did you work yesterday?
