arrival/Comments: He was suposed to be born at a birth center but complications in his heart rate cause him to be born at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing Michigan. He came after only 15 min of pushing. We are so happy to have him with us safe and sound. He is really a true blessing.

Details: Began induction (due to pre-eclampsia) Wednesday night at ~9pm. Pitocin (9pm Wed to 7pm Thursday, all day Friday, Saturday until birth), misoprostol overnight Thursday and Cervadil overnight Friday all failed to progress me past 4cm dilated and 75% effaced. The midwife broke my water at 9:44am Saturday and by 10:30, I was pushing! Total induction time: 64 hours. :

I'll post more later, after I've gotten some sleep.

It's always difficult when our expectations and desires don't match what actually happens.

arrival/Comments: I had extended difficult labors with my first two children, but this was a wonderful experience. My water broke at 2:30 - contractions were strong by 3:30 - labored at home until 5:00 & got to the hospital at 5:30. Had wonderful nurses and dh help me through and my favorite midwife arrived at 8:00 and he was born at 8:34 after about 5 minutes of pushing.

It has been sort of difficult since because he was in the NICU due to difficulty breathing (labor was so easy that his lungs didn't really clear) He also left the hopsital with the first signs of jaundice and it was beginning to spike the following day so we have had several trips (six so far) to the hospital & ped to check his blood levels and he has been sleeping on the photo blanket. He is nursing great and happy as can be, but it has been a little bit less relaxed and bondy than I hoped for.

Thanks for the words - I totally should have prepared myself better since I knew there was a possibility that I wouldn't be allowed an epi - I just was hoping against hope that I could talk them into it, it worked the last two times!

That is just incredible pain - I am sort of fascinated by that level of pain. I am sure that it didn't help that it was an induction... yikes, it was just phenomenal - the last part happened so fast it was crazy.

The doc didn't make it, he came running in - I hear he kicked the door open - right after the nurse had delivered the baby.

Comments: Shoulder dystocia, like my other son. Some concerns about him not opening his eyes, and his cry, so DH, CPM, and my sister took him to hospital to meet up with natural-minded pediatrician. Vitals are great, but he needs to see a chiropractor ASAP. Didn't get the waterbirth I wanted - had to get out for Gaskin Maneuver (same deal as with DS1), but did labor in the birth tub for about two hours. DS1 witnessed birth with my sister's assistance.
I had contractions last night, and all day today, but they were irregular and varied in intensity until I took a walk around the neighborhood. Then CPM arrived and found I was already 5 or so cm dilated, so I moved to the tub (avoided before due to concerns of stalled labor.)

arrival/Comments: insulin dep GD, water broke, 27 hours to full dilation, 3 hours pushing, baby born in OP position (sunny-side up). Really tried going natural, but after 14 hours of 3-4 min constant contractions from the start and horrible back labor, needed epi, also had pit and oxygen later on because of fetal distress, but was still able to have a vaginal birth. Will be posting full birth story another time, when I have time to write.
