Not sure what to do...

DS 26 month old..not circ'd...complains that his pee pee hurts sometimes...not an everyday thing...but it seems that he says this right before he pees either in the morning when we get up or right after nap time. I asked my non circ'd husband if his does the same thing. He says no...not sure what's going on. Any ideas...i do not want to take him to the doc...everything looks ok in that area...he has normal out-put...still bf...drinks juice/yogurt. I'm thinking his little bladder is really full and that might be what's hurting him. But then he says his pee pee hurts. So i'm not sure what to do?

Does it have anything to do with diaper rash? My 5-year-old just told me that a few weeks ago while we were out (not in diapers) and before bed I discovered he had a rash on the undersid eof his penis from having wet his pants.

I'm not sure, either, but I'm bumping this up so the experts can see it.

He may be beginning the separation process. In other words, his foreskin may be starting to separate from the glans. Or he may have diaper rash, as the PP suggested. Is he retractable? Is he in diapers?

No he is not retractable and no he does not have a diaper rash. When i was pregnant with him our ultrasound presented him having a inlarged renal pelvis. After birth he had another renal ultrasound and everything was normal. The pediatric urologist gave us betamethozone to "aid" in retraction..i never put it on him since i had educated myself on the matter. So other than that he has had no issues. This is not an everyday occurance..but if something is wrong i dont want him to be in pain. I surely do not want to take him back to that urologist.

When the pain happens does he by any chance have a erection?? According to my dh it can be uncomfortable to need to pee and cant with the erection there. I know you said it happened after nap time and in the morning when he wakes up and that is the most common time for them to get erections.

It could also be the seperation process as well. But sounds more like it is erection "pain" it dosnt really hurt them it just feels weird I think.

Sounds to me like he might be starting to become retractile. When the foreskin starts to separate from the glans(head) it can sting a bit, especially when he gets urine on it. The foreskin usually separates a bit at a time so it would make sense that the pain would happen off and on. A bit would separate, and sting for a bit, then "heal" then another bit will separate, ect.

Maybe thats it?

Take care,
Tara

My son is 28 months and complains that his penis hurts sometimes, but it is when he is having an erection. I think that he is just experiencing the wierd feeling of erection. I remind him to stretch it and someday maybe it won't hurt anymore...

I think that is what your son is experiencing also.
