How is nursing going? I am SO looking forward to nursing a baby again... I am happy my 2 year old still wants to nurse at bedtime, but there is something about that soft mouth and tiny warm body...

So how's it going?? Give me something to look forward to!!

Nursing is going so, so well for us. I'm so thankful, because last time was very difficult for us. We had latch trouble and thrush for the first several weeks which definitely took away some of the joy I normally experience. She was my 6th baby and the first one that gave me even a hint of trouble with nursing. She ended up getting over the hump and nursing really well, but at first it was HARD to put it mildly. This time though has probably been my best nursing experience yet. Dd started nursing like a pro right away with an excellent latch, and I don't have any nipple soreness which is a first for me.

It won't be long till you'll be snuggling and nursing your little one!!

Awwww mama... twins would be tough! Especially in the early days... I spent so much time in one place nursing just DS... having two on you would get to be like "Ok, time to sit in the chair again..."

It's going well for me too! And there's a little less pain with the intial latch. I am seeing the light at the end of the first two weeks of ouch.

DH is a doll and provides extra hands, although I have nursed them separately from time to time. I keep saying, gee, one would be easy! :

But it's lovely to see their eyes exploring my face and have their hands grip my finger. : And my M/W taught me to be patient and let them really have a long meal with breaks to rest their jaws. (like say 3 10 minute feedings in an hour). This has gotton them the hindmilk and now they are sleeping just a little longer. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..

I still can't believe how many of us already have had babies. I will try to stay here and support all of you later in teh month mammas, but it's intense over here. I was supposed to be one of you!

Things are going pretty well here. I missed nursing SO much and love getting to do it again. Camden wanted to nurse immediately after birth and definitely has that root reflex down! LOL! We're going to see the LC today for a weight and color check. Weight wise, I think he is fine, but he is slightly jaundice. There's for sure a bit of pumpkin orange tone to his skin and the whites of his eyes. I'm hoping it will go away on it's own...there's such a lack of sunshine here lately, sun therapy would be difficult.

While I'm there, I want them to check his latch. To me, it looks good, but he has such a tiny mouth - sometimes he wants to just take the nipple and I don't want to get into that habit. Any tips? I wait until he opens his mouth as wide as I think he can to place him to the breast, but he really, really has a small mouth and it doesn't open much at all...

I hope things are going smoothly for all you guys! Can't wait to here more!! *HUGS*

Better than last time, but still challenging. I had inverted nipples with DD, so it took about an hour each time to get a latch, plus she was a very slow nurser, she liked to stay on the breast for an hour each time. So, I was literally nursing constantly. Plus, had WAY bad nipple trauma, scabs that were there for about a month and a half.

Now, the nipples are just flat, so latches take about 10 minutes to achieve. I've had nipple trauma and scabs, but they're pretty much all healed already. Plus, he gets finished quicker, after about 20 minutes of being latched on. I'm AMAZED at his patience while trying to achieve a latch. He barely cries, just sits there and thinks about it and then tries a little harder.

We are just getting started on really being able to nurse with Evan coming so early. He has a terrible latch though and I'm feeling the pain.

We are doing SO well with nursing, I am so much more confident and relaxed this time around than I was with dd in the beginning.

SO much better than last time! with ds1 it was a week to get my milk, and he nursed or screamed all the time and it took a month to gain back his birth weight and then finally we found out he had a milk intolerance. even so we always had a really tense, difficult nursing relationship.

this time my milk came in in 2 days, and aaron's latch is pretty good -- we have to re-start a few times. ironically, this time he sometimes gets frustrated because i have too much milk and its choking him.

we were supposed to have our 2 week appt yesterday, but my doc was on call and had to run to emrgency and we don't get our check up until next week. but i asked if i could use their scale, and i fully dressed aaron was 11 lbs, si i'm guessing he's about 10 and a few oz.

i'm pretty happy that he has a really strong neck, so we can already nurse in the sling and i can run around and have one free hand for andrew.
