Any babies born with skin problems?

One of my twins was born with a skin problem. The doctors didn't know what it was and never did tell us what they thought it was for sure. Everyone had a different theory from a placental infection to mild ichthyosis (which they did a genetic test for and came back negative). My ds's skin was red, cracked and peeling when he was born, his skin was pulled back so tight on his face that he couldn't close his eyes or mouth. He looked like a burn victim. The doctors put him in the NICU for a week but found nothing wrong physical so they told us to put aquafer on him and let us go home. Within a month his skin peeled off like a sunburn would and he hasn't had any problems since. His twin sis had some dry skin at birth but nothing like him. He is 10 months now and no problems. I am worried that he might have extra sensitive skin or get burned really easily. I was upset that none of the doctors, even the demetologist couldn't give us any answers. I would like to know if this could happen with our next child or when our son has children. Has anything like this happened with anyone else?

Sorry you don't have any answers. When dd was born she had some really red skin that peeled in a week or 2 and has since only had eczema. Her eczema showed up around 1 year. Other than that nothing. We use the baby aveeno cream and hydro cortisone if there is a bad patch that is particularly ichy. Is his skin still tight?

I would be grateful there was no further issue and just watch for future blemishes. I would guess that it was an issue in the womb since it did not affect his sister. Maybe it was how he was lying or what he was resting against.

Hope you find the answers or comfort you are looking for.
