BABYBOOST---Have you tried it yet?

Oh, my goodness I'm so excited!!! I just saw that AfterBaby Boost now has a banner ad here at MDC.
(btw--there is a typo in the banner.. there should be an 'after' on it..)

I know the husband and wife who started the product and I was so lucky when my son was born because they were in the trial periods at that time and shared the product with me. I gotta tell you IT HELPED ME tremendously.

I know I have shared this before but I'll share it again.
I met my husband when I was 38. Note that age...not particulary young...
I got married when I was 41...not particularly young..
and I had my baby at 43.. okay.. yeah, yeah, yeah.. kind of an old mother!

so, if you can imagine a river of hormones for a 24 year old woman is like the Mississippi in the Spring.. HIgh water right? Hormones for a 43 year old woman are more like the Colorado River in the Arizona desert...not particularly high...like NOT AT ALL.

Now after my son was born my kookie 43 year old hormones were trying to figure out what the hell just happened... because they got boosted they got drained they were so confused..and then, here comes the big thing...
when my son was 2 months old..drum beat.. September 11 hit.
bam.. My hormones took a crash. My hair fell out, everything went to hell in a handbasket. I gotta tell you the only thing that got me through was AFTER BABY BOOST. I'm not kidding. I could tell when I missed a day of the nutrients..because my mood dropped to basement level. It was like clockwork... I really felt I was so blessed to have BabyBoost at such a critical time in my life.

I really encourage anyone who has not tried them, give it a try. Even if you only get one month's supply.. I think you will see a results.. god, i mean if they helped me at age 43.. I think there is a good chance it could be helpful to those who are younger than me even more.

anyway, just sharing my 2cents. Would love to discuss with others...

honeybeedreams- click on "supplement facts" in the link above and that will give you a complete listing of the ingredients including RDA percentages.

So is this like a pre-natal vitamin with the two extra ingredients?

yup, i finally found it. i hate it when it's so hard to find the facts!

it seems really expensive for what's in it. :

As I recall...and honestly I can't remember for exact..but I am under the impression that most PPD multiples do not contain COQ10 or Alpha Lipoic Acid--which is pretty costly. Especially COQ10.

also calcium caltrate costs more than calcium carbonate....and caltrate is absorbed more easily. I think a lot of the other products go the more budgety way.. with carbonate.

here's a bit more on the difference between the two.

http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/964794298.html

I kind of liked that they had gone what I think is top drawer with the ingrediants-- I have recreated vitamin supplements like what they have and it cost me a lot... (just how expensive is my pee?)

But I hear you about budgets. I too watch where my dollars go and am always trying to weigh it all out. sigh.

You know it has been awhile since I took prenatals (5 years ago). But when I did they were just a strong multivitamin. Recommended by my gyno.

But it was different when I took ABB. With ABB there was one bottle that was a vitamin (I remember it was a higher potency than my prenatal) and I think it was geared more for replenishing what was given to the baby. By the way DS still takes from me but that is a different story LOL.

the second bottle had the Omega 3 supplement and the 3rd bottle was calcium (the more absorbable one as mentioned before).

one more thing... I gotta say, I'm now 49 and I hate saying these words...but I am showing signs of Perimenopause.. (can't stand even saying the word).. and I have tried as best as I can to recreate some of the vitamins that I had with ABB. But with a few differences.

I hope to goodness they will come up with something for my P-M group.. because me figuring out the right this and that is so much harder....

it sounds like a good product but it is awefully expensive. Most people just don't have that kind of money to blow. I am not bashing this product, I am just giving MHO.
