No more What To Expect for me. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a pregnancy book that's natually-minded?

Thank you!

I'm Pregnant by Lesley Regan, MD.

Very pro-bf, includes midwives, allows for cd, includes a few pages on non-drug labor therapies, and the like. I really like it. Someone suggested this one since I used/hated what to expect with the first.

I don't like the "What to expect" series either, however, I LOVE "The Natural Pregnancy book" by Aviva Jill Romm. It is very informative, written by a mamma herbalist/midwife. She inclueds information on pretty much everthing and talks about how to go about treating issues naturally and when it is best for medical intervention. I really recomend this book!!

oh yes.... and also wanted to add that, for me, what's been more nourishing to read than anything else has been really positive empowering birth stories- you learn so much! I particularly love to read UC stories. There's wonderful collections out there in cyberland (including right here in MDC)...

When my friend was pregnant I found a book by the editor of Mothering mag (and no I'm not a subscriber or employee). I think it was called "Having a Baby Naturally". I bought it for her so I did not read it but I liked it because it was so focused on natural pregnancy and birth and followed a timeline like other pregnancy books.

I adored Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin. It does focus more on birth than pregnancy but I loved it.

Dr. Sears The Pregnancy Book

Sheila Kitzinger's Complete Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth. Because it's big, comprehensive, and covers everything, like the WTE books, but is totally NFL friendly. I also like that it isn't "about" being alternative, but is just a large basic book that covers things from a good perspective.
