What can I do for my dd's ears when we fly?

Hi. I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster.

We're planning to go to Disneyworld next month; it'll be the first time on a plane for our daughter, age 2 and a half. I know that I get pressure and pain in my ears especially during landing. I wonder if any of you have any ideas for what I can do to either prevent or ease pressure/pain for my dd.

Gum chewing works for me, but I do not trust her with gum. I've also read on here that nursing works, but we weaned a few months ago, so that won't work either.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. TIA!

They have special flying ear plugs that used to work for my ex really well. I found them at Walgreens with all the other ear plugs. I do not remember what they were called but the package was clearly marked.

However, I have no clue if they would fit a child or if a child's size is available.

Or, you could work on learning to chew gum now. She'd only need to chew it for a few minutes during take off and landing.

ETA: they do have them in a child size. Here you go:

Drinking a beverage would work, its the swallowing in gum chewing and nursing that equalizes the pressure in your ears.

How about lollipops? Our ds thought it such a special treat when he got root beer-flavored tootsie pops when he flew for the first time.

No ear problems, at all!

We have our daughter do big yawns during take offs and landings. She has never been very bothered by ear trouble, though, so your daughter might not necessarily have a problem.

my pedi gave us a script for numbing drops for this reason they are the kind they normally give for an ear infection but told me to use them about 30 min before we board the plane and it would help. But I have also used suckers for take-off and landing and it helps too. Have fun
