dr. bronner's cleanser?

Any Dr. Bronner's devotees out there? I just ordered a big jug of the hard surface cleanser, and I am wondering if folks have used it, if they like it, if they do dishes with it, etc. Also, for his body soap, how do you use it? Do you use it as shampoo and soap? Thanks!

Dr. Bronner's rocks! Been using his liquid peppermint for years and love it. Use it at night to shower with and in the AM to do hair and face-even tried it as tooth paste and lived to tell it!

I didn't know they had a hard surface cleanser. I'll have to check it out...okay I just found their site. Do you mean the Sal Suds? I've been wanting to try that. Let us know how you like it.

We use the regular liquid soap (my favorite is the lavender) for everything, hand-washing, bathing, everywhere but hair (I have washed my boys' hair with it). You have to dilute it a lot though because full strength on the skin is very drying. My favorite way to use it is in a foamer pump. Love that stuff!

I just ordered the lavender Sal's Suds (I think that's it); I will let you know. I usually use Basic-H, but I can't always get it so I am switching.

Love it! They raised the pH, it says on the package, so I didn't boost with BS. Worked beautifully. Of course, nothing can actually redeem the 70s vinyl in my kitchen, but it gives me something to do!

I use Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds for laundry

I use 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) per load. It's truly biodegradeable and not too expensive. I buy it by the gallon (128 ounces for $29.99 is $0.23 an ounce) and it lasts 7 months. (I thought it really cleaned my cloth diapers and wraps really well in my previous cloth diapering days.) I have to ask that my Chamberlin's stock it in the gallon sizes because they usually only have the 16 ounce bottles.

Now with the soap it can be diluted and put in a hand pump liquid soap type bathroom dispenser for you to use when you wash your hands. I find my children still get soap in their eyes so only DH and I use it in the shower. (My children use it to wash their hands.) You can just shake it directly on your hands or washcloth for showering. (I have never tried the bar soaps only the liquids.)

The Almond castille soap used in the bathtub cleanser recipe in "Clean House Clean Planet" smells good enough to eat!

I find it makes my hair too stripped of oils to use as a shampoo. Then I have to put in a conditioner. I'd rather use a gentler shampoo and not have to use conditioner on my non color treated and non permed hair!

My husband loves the liquid body soap/shampoo but I hate it (mostly because my husband insists on the eucalyptus and that makes my eyes and privates sting even when I dilute it a lot). I also don't like it as a shampoo with my long, very thick hair (hard to get coverage) but my husband is bald so its a non-issue for him

LOL! I prefer mine well diluted. I love it in the foamer bottles, all sudsy and yummy. I'm thinking about trying a bar, I've only used the liquid, but I noticed there are some scents in the bar that they don't make in the liquid. Dh has a bar of some sort of castile soap in the shower, I tried it yesterday and just one swipe on a washcloth gave me enough suds for my whole body. Nice!

Those that use it as a body soap -- do you find it drying? I have a gallon coming and would love to know how it works for the body, my skin gets very dry in the winter.

We should make sure to distinguish between the hard-surface cleaner and the body cleaner. Sals Suds isn't for skin, but you can use it for everything else, including laundry (although I make my own cheepie cheepie powdered soap from the recipe in the sticky here) and dishes. So I suspect it is drying. My skin is so dry from being the cleaning queen anyway, though, that I am going to break down and use gloves in the kitchen for dishes so that my hands don't fall off!

I loooove the Sal Suds in the kitchen--to wash dishes, counters, fridge, floor. Just a dash in a sinkful of hot water and I get lots of long lasting suds and it makes a great degreaser.

I use the Dr. Bronner's liquid castille soaps diluted 50/50 in old squirt bottles in the shower and bath (for my body only, it left yucky residue in my hair because we have hard water) and next to each sink for hand washing. Almond for me, unscented baby for my DD, lavender for hand washing, etc. I tried it full strength before, but it was drying. Diluted, though, its very gentle and non-drying for me.

I made a powdered laundry detergent (recipe from here) and used grated Dr. B Eucalyptus bar soap for the soap part.

Just today I used straight peppermint Dr. Bronner's on a damp microfiber cloth to clean my shower and tub. Took the soap scum off!

I use Dr. Bronner's on myself and my 6 mo old. It is pretty drying on the skin, so be sure to dilute (I had never thought of a foamer pump... thanks for the idea!). It seems as though the Bonner's bar soap isn't as drying. I use the bar soaps quite a bit as well as the liquid. I don't really like it in my hair though, it leaves it feeling really strange. Love Dr. Bronner's soap though! I had never used it for home cleaning, only on my body, but tried it recently to wash my bathroom and was so impressed! Wish it was easier to buy here in ND! Thank goodness I have an uncle who lives in Denver and brings us gallons of it!
