STBX taking DS to the ped by himself

STBX is about to take DS to the ped’s alone for the first time. I’ve always been there before. When I found out I wouldn’t be able to go, I said “What are the two big issues?” He sighed and said “No vaxes and no retraction” in a bored tone. He’s learning! This is just a daycare physical, so it shouldn’t be any big deal, but they may hassle him about the vaxes.

Anybody else get nervous when Daddy takes the kid(s) to the ped?

No, in fact I never do the doc visits anymore. I teach and dh is a freelance writer so its easier for him to take dd to the doc then it is for me to arrange for a sub and to take time off. Prior to me going back to work 6 mos ago, we both did the doc visits, we vax on a delayed schedule and our doc is anti-vax so no fears.

I know my dh and we are on the same page when it comes to our dd's needs. I cannot see not trusting him to do what we agreed upon when it comes to dd's health needs.

I'm just worried because STBX is kind of a pushover. I've been afraid that the ped will retract DS and STBX won't say anything or they'll push vaxes and he'll give in. After two years of hearing me talk about it, though, I don't think he'll give in and he'll certainly make a fuss if anybody even thinks about retracting DS!

Actually, we are the opposite. DH is DS's primary caregiver and takes him to all his doctor's appointments and to his well baby check ups when he was younger.

He had to calme ME down and tell me everything would be okay.

DH is just as AP as I am and we are on the same page re: DS so I don't worry about his decisions at the Pedia office.

But kudos to your STBX for trying!

I would be a nervous wreck if dh had to take ds to the Dr. I wish I could say I trusted him 100% to not allow vax or to make sure ds was protected from retraction but I cant say that.

No. I can't imagine trying to parent with someone I couldn't trust to handle something so basic.

update

It went great! They didn't try to touch DS's penis and they didn't give him any grief for refusing vaxes. Yay!
