birth announcements?

Are you going to say on them that the baby was born at home? Are you making your own? Ordering? Sending out an email? Share your plans!

I have a Photoshop template ready to go. It will have a small photo, it says "born peacefully at home" and then a space for the name and all the stats.

I will send out a short email to a few folks the day of the birth and probably include a photo. I will also order birth announcements online to send out with a printed photo. Both birth announcements will definitely mention "born at home"!

I ordered some from Winkflash...... I put something like
Born at home: January 24, 2007
on that part of the announcement. I'm proud of it, darn it!

I used Snapfish and put:

"Devin Loralei
11/3/06 @ 2:55pm
10lbs 14oz; 22" long
Born peacefully at home in the water"

Sniff...I am getting misty just thinking about it...Makes me want another one already!

We did. I made up the announcements for Ds with a letterpress (you know, those old fashioned moveable-type presses) and it said Born At Home right smack in the middle. It was actually Dh's idea, I was just going to put the stats but ran out of number type. Dh encouraged me to fill in the space with the location instead. I'm so glad I did. Who cares about length anyway?

I typed up a made up one to decide what to put on mine that I am ordering from snapfish (I am printing out address labels ahead of time to make it easy when they come in the mail. I figured it would have a photo of the family together AT HOME and day something like this:

Eliza Constantine Hope
was born at home into the hands of her loving father.

Born July something 2007 at something am.
She weighed some lbs some oz and was some inches long.

Mother, Father, Sister, Brother and Baby are enjoying an extended and lovely “babymoon” at home together.

I own a card design business so of course I will be making my own. Our last babe was born at home and we said:

Wayne, Nicole, and Madeline welcome with joy this holiday season
Mason Henry
born gently at home
December 2, 2005
7lbs 9oz

I have done several announcements for babies who were born at home (some MDC mamas!). There are a lot of cool wording choices and quotes to be had out there!

I made my daughter's announcement with a photo program and had copies made at Target (something like 19 cents per picture).

I made announcements, I did not mention place of birth for either my hospital births or my homebirth. I figured if I didn't mention it on the hospital birth ones there was no need on the homebirth ones.

I got a nice one from a homebirther friend that had the name, then, "Born at home", then all the stats. I thought it was cool

I'm a graphic designer, so I made my own and yes, said born at home.

I'll probably make my own and I'll certainly include "Born at home". I'm proud of the fact that I'm having a homebirth and I want to share that with everyone. I also hope it will make some of my friends/family think twice about homebirth.

Only the first of my three was born in a hospital. I didn't include the hospital name in dd1's birth announcement, but I sure did put location for dd2 and dd3!!!! One, I was unendingly proud of myself, and two, I also wanted people to consider out of hospital birth.

With dd3, it said born at home with midwives Jane Doe and Julie Smith. They were very touched; said it was the first time they'd been mentioned in a birth announcement.

I'm not doing squat.

In fact, I think I'll delegate this task to my MIL because 1.) It's her family who will expect them and 2.) Since we don't know the sex it will give her something important (and time consuming) to do after the birth, which should give me some extra alone time with baby kicky-pants.

I ordered mine which read
Born at home, we welcome with love

baby name

then we signed all of our names, older child too
