My 9 year old will get a filling on Monday. What kind should we get? And should the pediatric dentist have all kinds available without further notice? And what about the cost of porcelain or composite resign, how much are they?

Amalgam has mercury. So not that. Probably composite would work best.

composite resign according to my research has bisphenol-a and Formaldehyde

So what's the lesser evil?

amalgam is the absolute worst, imo. I know composite has its issues, but I'll take those over mercury. porcelain is best, but I don't think I've heard of a dentist using porcelain for children. I don't know why!! Amalgam is the cheapest. Composite is reasonable, however, and they don't have to remove as much of the tooth to place it. Good luck!

I've read that porcelain is not recommended for all molars, so I'm not sure. Looks like composite would be best in this case.
