I have a bunch of eggs that are waaay past the sell by date. I don't think they are rotten (they don't smell or anything) but I don't want to chance it can I put them in the compost pile?

I dont' think it would hurt a thing - I've put old boiled eggs in the compost before. I'd be sure to bury them in the middle of the pile though, rather than just through them on top, so they won't attract some rodent.

When I kept chickens I would periodically find an abandoned nest and put hem in the compost. The eggs break down inside and the shell stays whole for longer so when you turn your compost you get little pops as the eggs burst. I always thought it was fun.
