Hi all,
I'm trying to decide about going to a memorial service this Friday. Here's the story: my sister is married to a guy we went to high school with and were friends with, and we were friends with his brother and sisters as well. All in all, we've known the whole family for 25+ years. Well, the younger brother just died and his family is having a small service for him on Friday. I'd like to go and support the family and pay my respects, since I've known the family for so long (and I have been invited to come), but it looks like I would be the ONLY non-immediate family member there. So should I just allow the immediate family to have that time? I don't want to feel like I'm butting in or that I'm being self-serving, even if I've been invited. Opinions?

My condolences.
