I am starting to read up

I am working my way -- ocuntry by country -- to see what would be realistic for us, and what to expect in general

I have a really stupid question

when it states "children avaible 6 to 12 months or older"

and then you add "waiting time to refereal 6 months"

and "waiting time after referal 6 months"

HOW OLD IS THE CHILD??? do they mean the child could be 6 month at time of refeal -- and thus 12 month when they come home (6 months after the referal)..........this is what I THINK it means -- am i wrong?

?????

Sorry I guess it is a stupid question, but just wondering how the times all fit together?

With China, you wait for referral until almost the end. So, you do all your paperwork, send it to China, and get put at the end of the line. Then, you wait until they get to you. (I think the wait is about 18 mos. now? could be wrong) Then, you get a referral, and travel a couple months after that.

Perhaps if you give us a particular country it would be more helpful. The way they phrase things is very confusing.

I know for Guatemala children available was 2 weeks to a few months old.
Yet you have to wait on average 6 months until the adoption is final and you bring them home. Not sure if that makes sense . It really depends on what is needed to complete the adoption and how much time that takes.

we haven't chosen a county yet.

Not even sure if we are going to move forward or wait a few more years.

I am jsut unsure how to read the information provided.

If the county has children avaibale at say 6 months, and there is generally a 6 mon wait after your referal -- i am guessing that means a child would be 12 months old before you brought them home?

I know it is all "generanlly" and so on -- but I do know there an age difference between countries, and a wait time diffrence....

just trying to see how i am supposed to "read" what i am reading.

YK?

Sounds like you got it right. If the referrals state that the babe will be up to 6 months old - then that would probably be the age of the babe at referral. Then if you are in process for 6 months - that would make babe 12 months.
