Hooray! Our baby FINALLY arrived...and it's a girl!!!
Zel Piper - born at home 2/7/07 at 2:11 PM.
She's 10 lbs 2 oz and 21" long, has reddish hair, white eyebrows and big round cheeks - wowee!
My water broke just before 4 AM yesterday, and contractions started in about an hour later. We called the midwives to give them a heads up and they all came right over to check me out, since she was SO overdue and 2nd labors can be fast. (I also wanna give a huge shout out and BIG kudos to our midwives, because they had just come from a 20-hour birth and had NO sleep, but were totally focused and awesome for another 10 hours for Zel's birth/post-partum!)
Labor progressed really well, transition passed quickly, and by noon I was feeling pushy but had a lip that they had to push out of the way through several contractions (ow). Getting her out was one of the hardest things I've ever done (10 lbs dudes - OMG!). Once her head came out, it took several contractions to get her big shoulders and torso out, but by 2:11 she was in my arms. She latched on right away and is nursing like a champ.
I only had one microscopic tear that they didn't stitch up, but feel generally, well, you know, like I pushed a soccer ball out of my nu-nu. I have SO much respect for people who do this multiple times, or, omg, naturally for multiple babies at once! OWWWWW!
I'm so glad she's here, healthy, and that we were able to have the natural birth we've wanted since before Milo was born!
MWAH to you all for supporting me through the last whiny days of this pregnancy!! I LOVE this forum and am really feeling the love, not JUST because I'm all hormonal mom-lady and stuff!!!!
