Transverse/breech 38 weeks

I never even dreamed that this would happen My first c-section was due to preeclampsia so this whole pregnancy i have obsessed about my weight and blood pressure, and have had absolutely no problems at all! Two weeks ago, baby's head was down, yesterday, hands and feet are down! I have a head under my right breast and a bum under my left My ob wants to c/s the 20th if it doesn't flip. (39 wks, 6 days) Right before the surgery they're going to do an u/s to check the position. If by some miracle it's head down
then they'll cancel everything, and if my cervix is ripe then he'll give me the option of inducing with a little pitocin, in case it trys to flip back again.

I've got an appt. with a chiropractor tomarrow, he also does acupressure and something called "moxa sticks???" or something like that? I have no idea what i'm getting myself into but i'm willing to try anything. Any other suggestions?

I am still quite happy with my ob, because i did ask him to induce me the 13th if the head was down (i'm afraid if i get it down it'll flip back before the 20th) and he told me no, he does not induce or section before 39 1/2 weeks unless there is danger to mom or baby. I guess i understand the reasoning.

See if the chiro does the webster technique. Also there is the ironing board, knee chest, I have heard that moxa can work. Will the ob let you go full term, like 42wks? baby can turn at any time , why not give it all the time it needs?

I don't have suggestions but I'll send out some baby-flipping vibes..... I sure hope baby will turn!! Stress is no fun...

The Webster technique worked for me twice. I highly recommend it. I've also heard great things about the maxa sticks and those would have been my next step had the webster technique not worked. Good luck and try not to dispair! I had a breech baby turn at 39 wks and be born naturally!

I ended up having my breech baby vaginally. You don't have to have a c-section if you don't want to!! Good luck

I really feel for you - it is so nerve-wracking, isn't it?

My baby is a somersaulting genius. It flips from transverse to breech to head down multiple times in one week. In fact, it had been breech from Friday to yesterday and turned head down only last night (well, we think that's what the pretzel movement was - it was head down by my chiro appt today).

Chances are, if your baby just flipped, it can still flip back. I hope the chiro and moxa sticks work for you - my chiro's been my life saver! She says that every time the baby is breech it's because my pelvis is out of alignment. She puts it back and the next time baby is head down.

Personally, I will not allow a c-section until I am in labour and they know there is no way that the baby will come out on its own (transverse etc). There are ob's here who will deliver breech, but only the most uncomplicated breeches. But I want to give my baby every chance it has to get in the proper position. So what the pp said about waiting longer might be a better option for you. Esp if you can get in at any time after 39 1/2 weeks to be induced - like say you wake up at 40 1/2 weeks and baby is head down and everything is favourable - it'd be great to phone and get in right then.

Well, I wish that I had more words of advice for you. All I can offer are words of commiseration. Know that it is not too late for your baby to turn. My 8+ lb DS flipped breech the day I went into labour (41 weeks 3 days) and flipped back just hours before labour started. So it can happen.

icpa4kids.com has a chiro search function that will bring up a list of chiropractors near you who are webster certified.

you need 3-6 treatments, you can go every other day, and then after 3 (or 4-5-6) you can burn moxa near your pinky toes to make baby active and flip.. but don't do moxa before webster, webster will open the ligaments and make more space for baby to move.

my babe went breech at xmas and was head up until 38 weeks, webster was great in helping turn babe...

also, don't be afraid to poke at your belly. a mothers touch is gentle, and won't hurt baby... I inverted myself on the couch (3 pillow couch, put pillow 1 on top of 3, hips on top of that, shoulders on the middle pillow, head down where pillow 1 was) and then I nudged baby around... I put a fist in under the bum and then firmly petted the path I wanted the head to follow, and baby did move, I turned my body to the side as the head went that way, so gravity pulled it down, and it worked.. I had to try a couple of nights in a row, and it wasn't comfy because it's REALLY hard to breathe upside down like that with a full term belly... but I just suffered along and nudged and slowly massaged the baby around...

Thank you for all the responses. I had my chiro appt and he was AMAZING! Apparently my hips ball joints were completely locked up and the left side of my pelvic bone was sitting on top of the right side. He also did acupuncture on my little toe and explained to me how to do it at home also. I'm feeling pretty confident. My daughter, who is almost two, says "move, baby, move" and rubs my belly, it's so sweet and it makes me feel better. put the cold pack on it's head and it moved a bit but came back up again, but at least i know it can still move, so that's a plus.

About going into labor naturally, i'm just really worried about cord prolapse b/c my doc is approx. 2+ hours away. I agreed to the 20th because of this and i went into labor a week early with my first, and hospitals around here usually try to take a breech baby around 38 weeks.

Now i'm reading everything i can about breech (cramming for finals, i guess ) at the very last minute. thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm keeping my hopes up for head down really soon!
