So my next question is hiow long did it take your periods to come back to normal while bfing?
Mine came back at 4 mo pp!! DS was nursing all night, co-sleeping, etc too. They were pretty regular, with a few longer cycles thrown in here and there. *sigh* I would have loved to have it gone even just a few months longer.

I'm using fertilityfriend.com, too. I just use the free version, which is really all I need since I don't even temp. I'm a visual person, so it works nicely for me.

Definately have hope. It is certainly possible. We are finding that it can frequently be more difficult and take a bit longer but it can happen!

so far my cycles are 40 days and it didnt look like I o'ed at all last month so we will wait and see what this month brings.
Not Oing for a while is really normal. Since your dd is only 9m it could still be a couple months before you O or it could be this cycle, it is so hard to tell. My cycles were really long and weird for quite a while. I had my 1st pp AF at 8 months and just the last couple cycles have been starting to regulate a bit more and are gradually shortening.

Oh and I do not know if this isa related to bfing or not but I have been have EXTREMYLY heav periods that last 9 days is this normal for first few perid while breastfeeding? will it slow down I have never bled like this
I can't sympathize with the heavy bleeding but my period is long, started around 8/9 days and is now usually 6 days. I think it's normal!

Especially if you are night nursing (I am.)

My husband and I decided not to make any decisions about changing my DD's nursing habits until she is 18 months old. I originally wanted my children 2 years apart, and now the time for that to happen has come and gone. Of course there is hope for you to have your babies close in age, but my best advice is to have a "wait and see" approach and trust your body. For me, it meant changing my expectations and being much more patient than I am used to being. It's a journey, and we will all get to our destination, but not necessarily according to our original plans!
YES to all of this!!! MCKH, this is really weird! I could have typed everything you just said except my cycle returned at 8 months pp!

but actually this is good this month right? you didn't "try" for the late egg so AF would get you set on a new cycle? So if it is in order....congratulations! that feels weird to say! Would that make your LP very short? I was thinking you said you Oed on CD 24 so a 6/7/8 day LP? I've had really good luck with 100mg of B6 daily. My LP was between 7 and 9 days and this past month it was 12/13!

my dang thermometer battery is bad. I haven't gotten a temp for like the last 3 days or so. Blech, finally got it changed today so hopefully i'll be back on track with temping. I've only used this temp for like maybe 45-55 days. Anybody else have battery issues with theirs? Anyway, CD something, I don't even know, maybe 12? Not anywhere close to Oing. I'll just be hanging out for a while....boring! I need to live vicariously through you guys. Give me some good charts to stalk!

Yeah, it's good. I would be happy to have the 30 day cycle, although AF has not started yet. I am cramping like crazy and I can feel it approaching. I guess a 31 day cycle would be better since that would increase my LP by a day.

You are on top of things, I did get a + OPK on CD 24 so that makes my LP quite short (5 or 6 days.) I really appreciate that you remembered this about me! I did not try for the late egg and therefore, at this point, I just hope my cycle is a reasonable length

I am going to try the B6 you suggested! thank you for that tip - I don't "take" anything to change my cycle or hormones but I feel a vitamin would be quite okay.

Oh, and please call me Maureen! I wish I could change my "name" on here!

Hi mamas, I haven't posted in a few weeks, but I'm still waiting to catch that first eggie.
Sarah, would you mind adding my DS bd to my name - it is 4/06. Thanks so much, and no hurry.

Does anyone else have the abundant EWCM that I have?

THanks I hope that is what it is
Eastkygal: Good luck to you in the morning. I hope you get a +. :

ellymay: As ChiaraRose says, maybe you're Oing. :

Sarah: Sorry about the battery. Glad you caught it and got it replaced
no, my thermometer has been working so far. I'll keep an eye on it though.

Bella Catalina; I hope you catch the first eggie

I'm still not going to test til Wednesday at the earliest. I don't have any tests in the house to tempt me, otherwise i wouldn't be able to wait
post #53 of 483
sarah -- YES after only 2 maybe 3 month of temps -- and not temping after O -- my battery died ...ONE of the reason I never got any temps this month

ellymay -- AF returned at 7 WEEKS PP for me, despite nurseing on cue around the clock and at that point we NEVER went over an hour without nurseing. However I am fairly sure i didn't ovulate for a while as for 5 or 6 month i cyucled every two weeks. things didn't get "normal" till DS was about 10 monhts old -- adn that is when we started TTC. That was 6 cycles ago. Once in a while i still have a really bad AF -- but at first they were bad. and even a normal one now is longer and hevery than before DS

Maureen -- I really hope AF comes soon so you can get back to trying. There is a hompatic thing to take to jump start your AF -- OB had me take it long ago before DS when I had a really late AF and 2 neg blood tests....don't remember the name though (sepic? Sepia?) you might see if you can ask someone about it -- since you didn't DTD and know you are just waing on AF to show up.

We are in the same boat -- I really wanted a baby before DS 2nd birthday -- i really want thim close in age too. this is our last cycle and if we get preggo this time the due date will be RIGHT before his birthday, as if, if the baby is late it will be after his BD. I was trying to avoid that "close" so I don't have to either be a beached whale at his birthday paprty -- looks like grand pat would have to do that -- or be in labor then. (I am ok with the new born at the party -- mom will do the party and i thight was would be cool any where -- her eis all this hub-bub abot a new baby the POOF a party all for DS -- thought that would actually be pretty good thing ). I have decided not to try to effect DSs nurseing till 18 month -- DH leave it all up to me ("You have to do most of it", and "I don't know, babies are your thing") -- he has in jsut the last month started sleeping a lot better, espically in teh last week, and eatting a lot better and nurseing less. We'll see where he takes himself.

Ohio -- I have given up looking for the patteren. some of us get preggo in one or two cycles of TTC even with a babe nuresing all the time, and others, like me are at month 6 with DC still nurseing a lot, but with good breaks, and we know we are Oing, and others are TTC for even longer, or aren't Oing yet even with older DC and less nuresing. ?????????? It defys reason. I just have to say "when God is ready to grant me my wish He will".

ABout me

first -- I was rocking DS to sleep last night and thinking. We started TTC 6 cycles ago -- so I COULD have been we'll say 4 or 5 months PG now. I see why God said NO. I was rocking DS thinking about "how would life be RIGHT NOW" for him if I was 5 month PG. and I am glad I am not. He is Ready now, I am fairly sure for me to GET preggo -- but I can see how at this point in time he is not ready for me to be 5 or 6 month that way -- KWIM?? SO I am feeling reassureed about our "longer than last time" TTC path.

DS has started sleeping really well in the last week and eating a lot better in the past 3 weeks. now he is ONLY eating either yoraet or a cookie or cracker he can hold in his hand -- and is dry. so nutronally it is still a lot of me. but he has started drinking milk really well, still not mastered the sippy cup. so I think things are gettig to a point where he can allow momma's body to start ona sib -- KWIM?

I ahve not gottena temp any morn this cycel
  • AF came 6 days before I expected her, so i was at my folks without a themo -- i expected to miss a day to two of temps due to being gone, but i missed more.
  • DS threw the themo behind the bed, by the wall, and that required -- at nap -- crawling all the way under the bed -- if II was too much bigger i would not have fit.
  • the battery died

so this has not been a good month for charting.

We will see

Aimee

does breast milk taest BETTER just around O??????????

DS -- last night and so far today -- wants to nurse all the time. he hasn't been like this in weeks!!!!!!!

he just sat on my lap as I caught up on e-mail and just nursed away, and nurseed and nursed -- he hasn't done that in at least 3 weeks maybe 4. for the past 2 or 3 weeks he has been nurseing at tired times (laying down to nap, getting up) or after like 2 or 3 hours of play -- and he hasn't nursed as long as he just did -- save at bed time -- in memory...... the few "day time" nurseing he has done recently have been more of "I need a drink" shorts.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo if he TRYING to mess up O ?????

I think I O'ed yesterday...OPK's are being weird, had a positive on CD13, neg on CD14 and CD15...but major temp rise today...weird weird weird.

Aimee, maybe it tastes better...or maybe he wants to stay the only baby. LOL

ellymay, AF didn't return until 18.5 months for me and it has been off ever since. I had 1 cycle just like my cycles before getting pg with James and ever since then O has been all over the map. LP was pretty steady but last month it was 6 days longer than it should have been. Very odd. We'll see how this month is.

Aimee, I agree with you, when I first started TTC James got upset when I held another baby, except for my friends son...now he talks to babies, likes looking at pictures of babies...I think he's more ready now...but no way ready for me to have a big belly. It's not ideal for me, but I think having a 3 year age gap will be good...good for James and good for me. James is getting to that age where he's pretty able to entertain himself with minimual interfearence from me. Like my friend...I just can't imagine. He son is almost 10 months old and she is 16 weeks pg...I can't imagine having a 14 month old and a newborn. But of course her son is a lot less high needs than my son.

Good morning, ladies. I posted about 6 months ago saying I was waiting for ppaf. Well, that finally happened when dd was 19 months. I've now been through two cycles and I just O'd over the weekend. Puts me in the obsessing over waiting to test category! I'm crossing my fingers and hoping history will repeat itself -- my dd was conceived when my ds was 24 months and I had two post partum cycles.

Best of luck to everyone!

I'm joining again. I think we are officially trying now. After 13 months of breastfeeding I finally had three days of a very light period (29th-31st). As I'm not using any monitoring system beyond checking my CM, I don't think know if I've ovulated yet. I guess it's just a wait and see game.

Maureen, sometimes i feel like i can't keep up wtih anybody and other times things just stick with me! I feel the same way about taking anything right now. It just isn't for us at this point in time. That said, I feel fine about the B6. I have done some reading that says it is also helpful in decreasing morning sickness in pregnancy. I believe it is recommended to decrease to 50mg when pregnant though. It is nice because it is taken each day of the cycle so no worrying about when to take it and when to not (I forget things easily!) I hope it helps you and you O earlier this cycle! :

Got it added, I hope that egg drops soon for you! I seem to have times that seem like my CM is excessive or I'll have several days of EWCM where I think most women only have a couple days. It is so weird how different our bodies can be! I think, since you are waiting for PPAF that it could mean your body is gearing up and working to become fertile again! Could be a really good sign!

: WTF is going on with my body? I have had no signs of O at all so far and am on CD 17, well about an hour ago I started cramping and spotting! I never have midcycle spotting, so it was prolly a screwed up month and I never Oed at all. : Waiting to see if I need to change my chart to CD 1 already, and never left waiting to O this month. Things were so crazy around here that there is NO chance that I am pg right now (DH has to be semi awake and the kids asleep in order to DTD and that never happened at the same time )
Okay, me vent over!
